Propane cost in your ‘hood

Rented 500 gallon tank was refilled today at 1.59. It was refilled about 4 months back at 1.29. I've been in this house for 4 months and have not shopped around yet.

The key is to own your tank so you can shop around.

that is what we did 7 years ago.
though we do have propane heat, I haven't turned it on in 2 years
I burn wood for heat all winter. the propane tank will last me 2 full years (500 gallon tank) to heat hot water and stove.

I did just call for current price

$2.65 per gallon
Northern California

Last week 1.99/gallon. I just bought a 500 gallon tank from them and they were at 2.19/gallon. I asked for 1.99 and got it:grinpimp: now I think its around 2.50/gallon.

Whatchu pay for the tank? I own mine, older than fuck but the gas man doesn't care. I still think about replacing it, possibly a larger one.

also this thread reminds me why I like the gas guy. He'll beat any price, shows up within a few days and always when I'm home to pay in cash

parents own their 1000 gallon tank, buy in the summer when it is dirt cheap and not have to refill all winter.

I see this approach in my future, 500 gallon rented to 1000 gallon owned. Hell, with things the way they are maybe 2.

Like $2200 with 30’ of line and a regulator.

Currently I rent my 120 gallon tank. 60 bucks a year. I have shopped around on propane price and it's really not all that much cheaper then what I pay now. AND the catcher, every place wants a 75 dollar tank inspection if they have not been out to my place yet. sooooo at 60 bucks a year Ill go ahead and rent. I dont really like it but at about 700 bucks for a tank Ill go ahead and rent. My ROI on purchasing the tank just isnt there IMHO.

Do it! Fuck those pole smoking propane company's.

We got a summer fill rate of .97$ in july. Took about 700G to fill our 1000G tank. We only buy in summer when the price is lowest.

Right now I think it's about 1.40$ in KC.

Most places will waive the inspection if you haggle with them a little. If you are already on the cheaper end it may not matter.

120 is pretty small, if your heating off it how many times do you fill during the winter?

I fill usually once in the summer and once in the winter. Im only running my dryer, kitchen stove, and fireplace. My main heat is ductless system. Fireplace is just for looks and heating the living room while watching tv.

Local delivery is $1.89... Weekly or so tank fill up at restaurant.

It depends on usage, prices drop.

Varied/seasonal rates vary, usually more but all depends on "usage" (their words)...

We have the portable tanks for "20 bucks" from Blue Rhino-

I just used my last pre-bought at $1.29/gallon, I think normal price is $1.40 something. I bitch and moan about it all the time, but after reading what some of you guys pay I should stop bitching. I'd knock a hole in the wall and put a wood burner in if I had to pay $4.99.

I think it was $3.89 or $3.99 a gallon last time I got my tanks filled, and that's the you haul-it-price. Central Ca.

Seems the west coast price of propane is a lot higher then the central states. From what I understand the Pacific Northwest gets the propane from Canada. maybe that's why we are paying more. I assume the central states consume there own propane.

Just bout ~100 gal for $2.62/gal. We ordered over a week ago and just now got to us, tried charging us $2.80/gal :homer:

It's a lot cheaper if you fill in the summer, but no where near as cheap as other states. Luckily only the heater lpg, we just use it to supplement the wood stove, since it sucks

Just paid $2.39/gal the other day - home delivery, owned 250gal tank. They said 5-7days out but got me in 3. Another company said 7-10days

I paid 2.65 today at the feed store for bbq and a forklift tank

I got a big ass, maybe 100gal tank with the camper I bought from 2big bronco

I was eyeballing it today, thinking I'm going to fill it just cuz I'm expecting fat ass inflation

Just got an email from my company. $1.39 with their promo code.

I'm in MD and own my 500 gallon tank.

$2.05 in Park County, Colorado today. The downside to a weekend place that has radiant in-floor heating -I need to top it off once or twice in the winter time depending on how much it gets used. We use it a lot, otherwise I would drain the water and shut things down for the winter.
