Propane cost in your ‘hood

Just got an email from my company. $1.39 with their promo code.

I'm in MD and own my 500 gallon tank.

Like a dumbass, I missed the January promotion and had to pay $1.79 yesterday. I'm down to about 15% in the tank, so the extra .40/gallon is going to put a dent in my beer money.

Fawk me. Tevis just hosed me for $3.00. Same situation, own my 500 gallon. They've always been right with everybody else. I grabbed the truck while he was next door without calling ahead and checking.

I think I paid $4/gal for my last fill up in the Denver metro area... a month ago. Don't want to know what prices are now

Oof!

FWIW, I've been using Ferrell Gas for the last couple of years and they've treated me good. They have a depot up in Taneytown so their deliveries are quick, and somehow I got away with not having to have a home/tank inspection with them either.

Bump

2nd week of August has always been the best time for me to buy. Did some checking around today and best price I was quoted was $2.13 freight and tax all in. So, I signed up for
475 gallon. :mad3:

But, that should do me all winter.

Ours has been higher than I'm use to.

$3.45 and there abouts.

Condensate is selling for $82 a barrel

That price is coming down so maybe they won't rape us this winter.
that's like 2 bucks a gallon, how is propane less than that delivered to me?
odd

Surprised that ethane is in the condensate.
Gotta be higher pressure and/or colder than I'd thought.

Ya'll do cool shit, thanks for hanging out with us :p

What size barrel, or did you mean a drum ?

Most drums are 55 gallons but how many gallons in a barrel?

barrels in the oil world are 42 gallons

100% no shit, "because fuck you that's why"

IIRC it was because the Rockefeller figured out that 42 gallon drums fit better on a ship in the early days vs using the standard 55g drums. And I am sure people hear barrels and naturally think 55g per not the standard oil barrel of 42g.

$4.09/gallon at TSC to fill the twenty pounder for the grill.

edited for clarity

local feed store will fill my 30# RV tanks for like $17. I don't know how much that is per gallon but much cheaper than the Blue Rhino exchange gets for just the 20#.

And you’re actually getting 4.6 gallons at a dispenser not just 15# exchange.

This was a refill. Came out to like $17. Blue Rhino exchange is $28 and those tanks are usually not full.

I heard it was because it was measured out in open top drums that were spun along the floor on their edge when unloading tanker trucks
before they had like metering equipment

standardized on 42 because it was low enough that it wasn't slopping out everywhere

you may be correct.. I remember seeing a show on History channel or something about Standard Oil and the Rockefellers. I thought it was mentioned there why the oil barrels are 42g not standard 55g

More than one way to drop the condensation out of the well head gas and separating it from the methane.

The most common and easiest is the JT effect.
High pressure to low pressure across a orifice plate or valve.

Some gas plants separate only the propane to sell locally. They send the rest of the condensation down a pipeline to Houston or Lake Charles'where they separate the rest.
The ethane is in most all plastics and synthetic rubbers.
