V1.0 was...

-4 linked rear with RuffStuff Parts
-18" King 2.0 Air Shocks
-4.3 with TH350 trans to a 205 case and 5.29s in yota axles with all the goodies.
-52" rear leaf springs in front with shackles in the front.
-120" Wheel base

The full build is on the other site.... but the sum of it is I took an 85 X-Tra cab SR5 and cut it up into a truggy.

V2.0 Is cutting off the back half, making it bigger to add a 3rd seat. Get a doubler in it and pit it on one tons when I start destroying the axles.

I wheeled the truck and had great luck with it. It worked well. As with everyone a kid in the mix changes stuff. Kinda took a break from wheeling, built my K5 on tons to do more "family friendly" wheeling while the kid grew up a bit.

Now that she is 4.5 it's time.

Here are some old videos and pics of the truck.

Oh the wife did take it mud bogging and wiped the tranny out for me, so I'll need to fix that.

More tube. The guy in the pic is 6'2" for reference. Not super happy with the upper tube. When the seat comes in I finalize them.

Got the basics done. Ordered a Corbeau Baja JP for the rear 3rd seat. When that comes in all get it mounted then put in all the bracing. The guy in the pic is 6'2. The seat will end up a bit higher but I think it will work out well.

Trying to figure out bracing.... Whats everyones thoughts on this? The roof will have an X in it also. Id love to have a brace in the space where his head is but I'm thinking thats going to be the only way in and out. Also the vertical line at the shock will go to the mount to support the shock. All the sides will have panels

thoughts in blue? probably don't need the lower rear kickdown, good luck hitting that bottom corner hard enough to bend the existing bar is my thought.

I like that.

You sure you want her that far back? I don't see a reason why you couldn't have the seat much closer to you. I have 3 kids and am always reaching back to help them or give them stuff.

I'd cut that cross bracing out and move the seat up a bunch.

Also, sitting directly over the axle will be a rougher ride for what it's worth.

I'm not 100% on where it will be. I do. Want enough room for an adult to sit reasonably comfortably too but yes it will be as far forward as possible.

And at least that axle has compression and air shocks. 😂🤣😂

sitting over the rear axle was always my wifes biggest complaint about the rear seat on my toyota.

in attemptting to fix that with the buick, i might be making it worse, but at least that is far from done still :lmao:

Having riden in the back seat of a built jeep exactly once. It's a wierd ass feeling sitting back like that.

Yeah, that seat location is no different then then sitting in the rear seat of a jeep.

Needing to put a floor in the rear. Kiddos feet will be right above the carrier bearing. 1/8" plate? 1/4 aluminum?

Maybe do a small piece of 1/8" right over the carrier bearing, than normal 18g steel or 14g aluminum, or whatever a normal floor is.

Was that white shadow with the rolled eco 3rd gen? He had some good threads.

It's your rig and your kid, but I think that location sucks. She's more exposed to elements, noise, branches, mud, etc.

Also she may just feel left out. Can't hear you guys, you can't hear her. Can't reach her.

I have seen many kids have 1 or 2 bad trips and end up hating wheelin for years and years. I wouldn't enjoy riding back there, it feels secluded.

My buddy built a funky double extra cab thing to take his kids wheelin. A 6'2' adult could sit in the back with his legs flat and his feet barely reached the front seats. His kids never wanted to ride back there, and they would just end up on their laps, and putting around in the snow. When our buddy rode back there, he spent the whole trip going "what?!" untill he gave up and just drank beer.

Again, just my opinion.

She sat in it today. I can reach her just as good as my crew cab truck. It's getting sides, a floor and a roof.

As for branches, luckily where we wheel it won't be a huge problem but she is gonna have goggles for extra safety.

If she does feel left out or secluded the wife can ride there and she can sit up front with me. The wife has already suggested that

Also my kid ain't a bitch, she thinks riding in her granddads jet boat with a 671 blown big block screaming 2' behind her while runing 90 mph is the best thing ever. Lol

Why are you so opposed to moving her up closer?
The seat is literally as far forward as it can be maybe the pictures don't do it justice.

The front seat sit all the way back again the cage and the rear has maybe 8" to the cage. I have to cut and redo the X as is.

being in front of the rear axle helps a ton. that's something i've been struggling with on my buick, being 6' tall with a low seating position means my front seat is relatively far back. trying to keep the rear seat off the axle is going to end up in some compromises for sure. it looks tight as is where you have it, but it should be good.

and, if all else fails, the blazer is still likely to see more family wheelin' type stuff so it isn't like the toyota is the only option you'll be taking along

Here are some better pictures to show no room to move forward any more. Also without her setting in her car seat i can reach her no problem. she is closer to me then when in my 2500. You feel better? :flipoff2:

Just looks far away, I'm not sure what it is. The seat tipped back or something?

Also, I just realized that you somehow ended up with worse tires than 39 pbr's? :flipoff2:

That base of the seat is horizontal-ish. Those swampers are junk rolllers the pits are on the blazer and they work awesome for wheeling where I wheel. Lol
