This is a build thread about my boys rig that he is busting ass to take to Rubicon for his 21'st Birthday.

He may end up in here at some point, he knows about the site, but is more in tune with the other places like Facebook and Twitter.

I have shown a few pictures of the build here and there in discussions on other stuff but this will be the actual build thread.

This build has morphed a few times as he started when he was in his early teens and has changed his mind about tons of thing's, but now it's crunch time.

His Birthday is on June 6th and he plans on being somewhere on the con when he wakes up that morning:laughing:

The Runner is something we had laying around in the yard for a handful of years now, he had actually wheeled it into Buck Island one year for fathers day right after he got his license. It was on 33's had lockers and axle gearing and a failing 22RE.

He put a motor in it that he had built when he was in his teens and drove it to school a bit, but him being a kid wanted something different and faster while in school.

I came back to CA last month to grab some things, mostly all the parts that are going into the project now.

I was going to put them in my YJ and wheel the piss out of that in Missouri.

The parts consist of a high pinion passenger drop front axle with Welder Bill's knuckles and king pin c's a second generation 14 bolt rear the fresh 22RE, what're ever transmission that came in the first year 4 Runner and an Atlas 2 speed behind the Toyota reduction box.

The front axle will have hydro assist on it.

He'll be running 40" TSL's.

When I came back he had asked me which rig would be quicker and easier to get going and why he wanted to know(there was another option)

I told him the old red runner was the ticket.

He managed to sell the axles that were in it for 1000$ which funded the adapter and the hydro assist.

The day we talked about it he managed to get it running...It needed a fuel pump which he was able to scrounge out of an old body / frame he had picked up for something else.

So it drove into the garage and was torn apart to where the picture in the last post was.

We drug the axles out of one of the CONEX containers and kinda set everything in place to get some real motivation.

rockyota83 might remember this runner from way back.

It was the neighbors next to me where we met when we lived down the street from each other.

That damn devil voodoo machine. Will not be surprised to see it creeping the back streets of New Orleans on a full moon.:flipoff2:

Seriously though, I tip my hat to your kid for putting in the work. He must have good parents.

Finally found my way here!

Here’s a few more pictures of the build:dustin:
