I doubt it and if it was possible I’d pay money for that recipeDepending on gearing, With the 6 liter and 4speed auto, I bet you could get close to 20mpg fairly easily.

This is my old 86 1 ton with a 6" lift,35's. 3.73, 454, and turbo 400. It consistently got 15mpg driving back and forth from work. A stock 6 liter usually gets pretty good fuel mileage. Obviously, that truck is a lot heavier, but I bet it gets decent fuel mileage.
Uhm I have a 6.0/4l80e in a regular cab 2wd. 4.10 gears and does not even get close to 20. Maybe 15 on a great day but doubt that too.

Well obviously don't know much about driving a 6 liter. Only my Landcruiser which doesn't count.
I just figured if I could get that mileage out of a 454, a 6 liter should do better. But to be fair my 454 had a Quadrajet, so that's like driving a 2 barrel most of the time.
Wrong member. Thought he was the one in GCC that bought a newer 2016 Chevy. He was also looking at a square body with a 6.0 in it.right, who gives a flying fuck about gas mileage. life is too short to worry about that shit. I drive shit that is fun and makes me smile.
did you buy this damn thing yet??

We have agreed on a price. I'm arranging logistics now. There is no spare, so I'll be relying on fix-a-flat, I guess.
Looking forward to the road trip
I have owned a Chevy 6.0 before so I'm expecting threve miles per gallon
Take a good look at the tires, make sure they're pumped up. Those things like to blow the tread off from age before they every wear out, not just spring a leak.
Would suck to waste a fender before you even got home.
It's definately repainted and the interior looks a little pieced together. The front bench doesnt match the rear. Seat belts are faded and closer match the carpet. I'm not sure if that's the way they came having a tan carpet and pilar covers.
There are still used take-offs out there:
95%+ Goodyear Tire Radial (37x12.50R16.5) Take-off Sets
These are the same tires that the Humvees drive up and down the road on as well as go to war on every day. They wear like steel on the road but have a wide enough tread pattern to clean out well off road. BEST DEAL ONLINE!!! PERIOD! But nowhere near as cheap as they used to be.
Truck is in Shreveport, LA and I am tentatively planning to go get it on Saturday.
A normal drive back would be 9 hours. I plan to take it slow. We'll see how long it takes.
Couple hundred miles into the trip. Hand calc says I’m getting about 13-14mpg. I’m probably optimistic

I don't think twf will sell them if they're that old.True, though the date codes would be interesting to see. I bet those are 10+ years old and I wouldn't drive them on the highway. Ever.
Are you trusting the odometer (probably inaccurate), or measuring distance with GPS?
You’ve got to pump those numbers up.a can of fix-a-flat
I used a GPS app to track distance and speed. The mileage seemed to settle into an average over 600+ miles of 12.5-13 mpg.
The tires didn't give me any trouble. Seller gave me an extra BFG 37-12.5-16.5 and military runflat spacer but no wheel. I would have been screwed if I had a blowout (would have had to try to find a shop to mount the wheel). I had a patch kit, a can of fix-a-flat, and hope.
I set the cruise at about 65 for almost the whole trip.
Good to hear, and glad you got the truck home without any drama.
What are the date codes on the tires? Maybe they aren't ancient...
