Parts cleaner fluid

Lol

Cfr 49 172.602, which states that hazardous materials shipments must be accompanied by emergency response information

Maybe nobody enforces it in your area. I see that a lot amongst our branches, dot enforces some but not other rules.

Maybe Alaska has local exemptions too.
The haz info prints out on my sales orders.

Your nose tells you a lot. If you can smell vapors, get some fresh air in there.

Vapors are typically never more than 14 inches off the ground.

I tried a xylene wipe on stained concrete floor in my rental last night. That shit had me hearing colors in under 10 minutes. Opened the windows and left it for the night and it was still fairly evident this morning. Floors looked better though.

Another vote for the PSC 1000 from Tractor Supply. Been using it the last few years and no complaints.

Toluol is good for both of those as well. Lol
Acetone usually doesn't have the pink elephant effect so pick your flavor.

We used to soak tires in xylene to soften them and yup, that shit will fuck you up fast if your not in a well ventilated area. 🤪

I have my Xylene labeled XyLOL cause it'll give you the giggles.

I use Diesel fuel now. I was using the Tractor Supply solvent but switched to Diesel fuel. The Diesel is more convenient to get, cheaper, and easy to get rid of in the smudge pot.

Perfect timing. I just pulled my parts washer out of storage to clean up some engine parts and was wondering what I should put in it. I'm not buying the fancy chemicals they sell at the parts store so I'm thinking either diesel with a bit of gas mixed in or kerosene will do the trick.

We use Naptha in the one at work but that stuff isn't cheap either...

Welp, I did the diesel/gas mix and it sucks. I soaked the head from my race car in it overnight to help break up the burnt oil in the exhaust ports and it didn't do shit. I ended up having to scrub the ports out with engine brushes for a decent amount of time before the stuff even started to begin to break up. It works ok for cleaning other engine parts that aren't all that dirty but that's about it.

Doesn't clean that great though, leaves everything greasy.
Plus end up smelling like diesel with any part you clean.

We used this stuff called Ozzy Juice. Cleans good, with some scrubbing. Rinses off easily. Doesn't evaporate. Haven't noticed it to dry out rubber or plastics either. Pretty costly though.

Edit: After doing some reading it looks like its for use in heated parts washers. 105-115 degrees for best cleaning. Our parts washer isn't heated.

It's been working good for my needs. Seems like I'll spend around the same amount of time scrubbing a real dirty part with the Diesel vs the parts washer solution. If whatever I'm cleaning is that dirty, I try to give it a quick blast with the pressure washer first. Knocks off the big chunks and helps the parts washer filter last longer. And less time standing there scrubbing with the brushes.

you could always get a magnet heater for an oil pan and put it on the bottom of your tank.

Suppose it depends on what you're cleaning. Lot of times I'm cleaning stuff that will be painted after.

Offroad diesel or home heating oil was always our go to just because we so rarely use it we needed to use something close at hand and not $150+ to clean 2 parts in a year.
