A 23-year-old man was charged Tuesday, Oct. 8, with crashing a car through a garage in La Habra while intoxicated, killing a man who was standing inside.

Rumualdo Ajxup Chay was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, along with a sentencing enhancement for fleeing the scene of a vehicular manslaughter.

Chay did not enter a plea Tuesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana and his arraignment was rescheduled for Oct. 25 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton. Bail was set at $100,000.

Chay is accused of killing 31-year-old Francisco Chay-Garcia of La Habra on Friday by “accelerating into a garage with enough force to collide through the back wall and while a person was standing inside the garage,” according to the criminal complaint.

Further details were not immediately available. Police and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for more information about the crash.

One of the guys at work was friends with the guy that got pancaked.

He just wanted to save his car!

Funny, when I was picking the lot in the neighbourhood for the house (of the available ones from the developer), I very specifically avoided some lots because they were lined up with street intersections....give me a house location where it would be exceedingly difficult for a car to come off the road and hit it.

Other reason was so headlights don't shine in through the front windows every time a car goes by at night.

I want 12k pound rocks encircling my home wherever I end up.
I think about this pretty frequently driving around in parts of Vermont. There are houses on some main roads that are about 3 feet from the highway. Most of them are old farm houses and not lit up very well. I’m pretty sure the snowplow guys have to pull on the side wing when cutting back the banks for these houses or else it’ll go through the living room wall

A guy I went to school with has an excavation business and he bought a mutual friends parents place on the outside of a 90° bend in the country. Not long after a drunk ended up in his yard so now there is a 6' tall boulder wall around the yard. A semi would get passed it at full chooch but no car would. Conrad don't fuck around.

There's a house down the road from here. Sits on the outside of the second part of an s curve. It's been hit twice by cars in the 15 years we've lived here.

Notes taken.

So a Mexican ran over another Mexican in NY:confused:
A Mexican almost ran my truck over today, I was making a right turn, in the right turn lane. He was beside me in the middle lane and decided to turn right :shaking:. I followed him through the homedepot parking lot. But was "working" so I had to go meet my brother to exchange tools.

Dad's neighbor when I was growing up had a house on the corner when he lived in town. Said some 80yo lady turned into his driveway thinking she was making a turn onto the street and creamed his new Corvette. Said that was the closest he ever came to punching a woman.

What a shit way to go.
Goes to prove the fact that you never know when your ticket will be punched. One day you’re just living life day to day and then out of nowhere… BAM!!!

Tiny town right down the road (like under 1k). Has/had an old store sitting maybe 5ft off the 2 lane highway on the outside of a sharp curve. 55mph highway, then 25mph curve with a store wall on the shoulder of the road.

A loaded log truck rolled onto it a few years ago, and it's a pad now.

heard/saw a medical seizure almost do the same. garage owner finished unloading groceries from the back of the car that got hit a few minutes before. driver had a seizure while moving his Jeep in his driveway and matted the accelerator. jumped 2 ditches and throttle was still pinned peeling out halfway into the garage when I ran over. driver was out of it so I broke the window and shut the Jeep off. pushbutton ignition threw me for a second but just like a phone or computer: hold down the button and it'll turn off.

Other neighbors showed up by then who hadn't run as far and had more clues.

I didn't think to immediately clear the garage, I was more worried about fire risk from the running, impaled rig. I won't forget that if I arrive first again. But I don't know fuck all what to do with a seizing and nonresponsive adult. He was sorta breathing, so I hoped he'd make it till the experts got there. He did. Came around semi concious another 15 minutes later. He'd had a bad concussion a few months before and was cleared to drive earlier that week :homer:
