Scout Race Build!

Yes it is finally happening. axleater has a Scout that was raced in the Badlands Baja and several others around 1984. It has quite a history and has been dormant in garage storage for a few years now. It is getting built to race the YORR series in stock mod class. Terra Tires!! And...

I thought some of you might like to check out my project.

I am rebuilding a friend of my Dad's old racers. I will be racing the YORR series in Montana, Wyoming and Western South Dakota.

Where are the 30 year old Terra Tires?

I still have the set I raced on 10 years ago (and they were used when I got them) and recently came into another pair.

Finally, a use for those 15x12 aluminum wheels.. :D
 
some unconventional fender trimming last night.

I still have a couple of sets of terra tires and 2 sets of new desert dogs. they are pretty much just for looking at these days!

a slightly over complicated roof skin is getting close to final fit, a little redo on the rear shock mounts

The mint Scout, the daughters.. a lot of "line jumpers" along the way.

Making some progress again - BP Lawn Ornament - got the new driveshaft, finally set the bump stops, fabricated a new custom shroud.. I'm sure something else will come up and pause progress again. :D
