Old kenmore washer dryer price?

arent side load washers better? thats what everyone seemes to say
Top loaders>front loaders.
Front loaders use almost no water, if you work for a living and get dirty half a gallon of water will never get your shit clean, and you will smell.
maximum water double rinse, equals clean clothes.

The main house (we have multiple houses on the property) has front load machines. Mrs says they always smell funky when she helps with her dad’s laundry.

i have 2 front load LG units, still hanging onto my Amana rotary dial dryer (kept in basement near new units).

In hindsight I should have repaired old washer too...

When this fancy LG stuff kicks the bucket I am going back to cheap/feature less top loader washer again. Like the simplicity.

Keep the door open, and wipe it down after use.
Now and then I use a self clean function in my LG washer, add vinegar or bleach.

I am very happy with my Speed Queen, clothes are clean as fuck.

I also hoard old machines, I have 2 spare washers and 1 dryer in my warehouse

and basically everything new does away with the belt driven drain pump, so you get to replace the drain pump every year
even top loaders

Yeah, the new stuff is definitely not as reliable. I 39 years I have replaced the pump belt once, and I went ahead and put a new pump in, just for the hell of it since I was in there, but it didn't need it and I kept the old one. That was in 2002. The dryer has gotten probably 4 belts in that time and I recently had a roller start squealing and replaced those and the felt pads a few years ago. As long as I can get parts, I will keep these old ones alive. Nothing digital, no membrane buttons, just nice, solid knobs, clicky push switches and timers.

What about wash quality? Is an old 30 year machine really going to wash as well as something more modern? I coukd have sworn my clothes come out cleaner in the SQ

They will wash as good if not better.

Pretty much everything that predates you piece of shit west coasters foisting water efficient appliances upon the nation is going to wash better than the modern equivalent.

So youre saying junk this Speed Queen, in favor of the dinosaurs... ?

Need a review of these. My rental only fits a stackable set and the shitty Amana set from 2009 I have in there is leaking. :shaking: Been eyeballing the SQ stackables but haven't seen as much raving about them as you do about the regular set.

Mine came from a hotel in Santa Barbara, paid 500 or 600 for them, 2017 I believe, give or take. I like them. Only issue that started is sometimes you have to press start twice and it gives an ER, but that may be just a door sensor as someone explained to me, easy to change. I bought a kit to convert it to propane because it was at work, that worked great and it ran off a small bbq tank and 110v. I believe oeiginally these were about 3k.

It is quiet, unlike my old dinosaurs. Definitely dont use a lot of water, they are all "high efficiency", but even with cold water only, my clothes came out pretty clean.

Well fuck it, theyre on offerup for 200 for both. This aint a 12 valve cummins, I dont want to be a hoarder. Ill gladly spend the money to keep the speed queen going

:grinpimp:

IMHO: Gift them to some young couple just starting out. Buy yourself a set of Speed Queens and don't look back.
IMHO: The fucking retards that mandated "Lid Locks" should be tared and feathered"! :flipoff::flipoff::flipoff::flipoff:

Our w/d are from 2006. On the washer I've replaced the dogs and water pump, and the belt/ignitor on the dryer. I don't have $100 in maintenance over nearly two decades. And we beat on 'em as much as a family of four can.

The w/d from Ma's house are the backups. The dryer is from 1998 and needs nothing, while the washer is a few years newer and is also a tank. My kids will probably get those when they move out because the first set just won't die.

I don't want any port of the 'internet of things'. The closest our laundry machines get to having internet access is someone leaving a phone in his/her work pants.
Here 8m thinking 2006 is near brand new... and... yeah... 20 years... 1998 was 20 years ago in my mind :homer::laughing:
