Bringing my speed queen in, have no use for these two old units. Free section, or worth something?

You better keep them, you are going to want them later...
That’s no joke.

I still have the washer/dryer set I bought maybe thirty years ago?

They are as bare bones as it gets. No digital anything, no circuit boards (that I know of). We know people who have gone through several sets of w/d because most of the new stuff is crap.

Why are you replacing them? Worn out? Need bigger? Ive bought several used pair for rentals. Generally around $200 each if theyre in good shape and work.

Agreed. I have the Maytag set my parents bought after the flood in '85 wiped out our old ones.

I have my old ones, you have to fix them every few years and put in a 35.00 repair

but I can always fix them

sorry, you will need a subscription for a app to wash your whites :grinpimp:

Our w/d are from 2006. On the washer I've replaced the dogs and water pump, and the belt/ignitor on the dryer. I don't have $100 in maintenance over nearly two decades. And we beat on 'em as much as a family of four can.

The w/d from Ma's house are the backups. The dryer is from 1998 and needs nothing, while the washer is a few years newer and is also a tank. My kids will probably get those when they move out because the first set just won't die.

I don't want any port of the 'internet of things'. The closest our laundry machines get to having internet access is someone leaving a phone in his/her work pants.

I've sold lots of them. I start at $200 each or $350 for the pair. Landlords are always looking for cheap appliances.

Our 30+ year old Kenmore 70 series washer and dryer will keep getting repaired as long as I can get parts for them.

I just put a transmission and a bunch of related parts in our washer last summer. It was easier to get a whole new transmission than the parts to fix it. Actual Kenmore/Whirlpool transmission was only $160.

So youre saying the 2017 speed queen I have is junk compared to these two?

I like that there are options for extra rinses, etc. But its not a "smart" machine, no screen or anything.

So youre saying junk this Speed Queen, in favor of the dinosaurs... ?

All I am saying is keep the old ones, because in the long run, they will probably be much more reliable. Run the new ones, but put the old ones in a corner of the basement or in storage somewhere. Just in case.
Pretty much this. I am back to what I grew up with. Kenmore 80 series washer and dryer. Fixing them is stupid easy and cheap usually. They don’t have digital shit to crap out.

Run your newer shit. If you keep you old shit your new shit might not break. If you junk you old shit you newer shit will need a part stuck on a boat lost at sea for the last 3 weeks the day after you junk the old stuff.

Fuck guys. Great. More hoarding. :shaking: Cant I always just but these on CL or such? Not sure if I want to store large bulky items to possibly save 400 bucks 10 years from nkw

make up your fucking minds bro dudes. All threads here swear by speed queen.

:flipoff2:
They also swear by a tank of the vintage you’re getting rid of.:flipoff2:

You’re happy, im glad for you.

Don’t know of the value, but it ain’t worth the effort and inconvenience selling it for me. But I hate people, especially strangers coming to my house.

arent side load washers better? thats what everyone seemes to say

I’ve never owned a Speed Queen, but our 30+ year old Whirlpools are going strong 💪🏻

Washer- replaced ratchet parts in agitator
Dryer- replaced a sensor
Refrigerator- replaced five ice makers, and other ice maker related parts
