What's new

Old guns you like more than you should.

I guess it would depend on your definition of old. Not really that old but I have a savage/spring field bolt action 30/30. I have quite a few newer rifles but for some reason, its my favorite. If I had to keep only one rifle, that would be my choice. The marlin Camp 9 would be a close 2nd.

Prolly not even all that old, certainly not as old as the others in the thread. But old is relative...

My Grandmother's H&R that she purchased when her husband was diagnosed with diabetes and cancer. She wanted to protect themselves on camping/fishing trips. The trigger is absolutely horrible in BOTH single and double but I can't let it go...

I have one of those as well! Definitely has been used but still shoots great. I think I dated this one back to like 1952?

Came with some old 22lr too

Wish I had a pic handy of my great grandfather's H&R 38 s&w. It was his carry piece as a police chief in the 40s.

I need to find a H&R gunsmith, the arm that rotates the cylinder is broken, and it predates universally fitting parts

I have one of those too LOL. Top break 5 shot. It has not been torn apart and reworked because I only have like 10 rounds for it and dont plan to shoot them
The indexing pawl could easily be made from some tool steel for what it is worth.

The original one was lost long ago, so I don't have a good template. I tore it apart when I was younger, and couldn't get it back together.

I DID buy a 2nd one, nearly identical. Then I found out parts are different.

I should probably bring it to work as pick away at it over time.

If you want, I can look into pulling mine apart to get a pic. If it is close, I can try to make one

FR8, 50's-something so not all that old. First long gun I ever bought, looked cool and shot .308, sold.

I don’t know enough about them to say early or late. It’s not a tack driver but I like it.

I’ve also got a Remington model 11 20 gauge that had the stock cut down to a youth or woman size at one point, and then another section of stock attached to go back to full size. My great aunts and grandmother shot it at some point but I never have. Someday my daughters will.
Did some pokin around and turns out those are take downs, you pull the fore grip off and there’s a take down screw under it, super cool.

That's like what this one is too, but it has a knurled knob on the left side that you unscrew and it pops apart haha. This one is from the 50s as well.

My most sentimental, cherished gun - my Granddad built this back in 1959:
Mauser 98K action, Browning barrel, Browning 4x-7x scope, Jaeger 2lb. trigger, chambered in .30-.338 WinMag.

My oldest gun and still very fun to shoot:
1923 Mosin Nagant
