Old Barns in your area or travels pic thread

:lmao:
That barn is kick ass.
I have family in the area and they graze the BLM ground on the other side of the hi-way north to Lyons Valley Road and east to WY135 and south to Beaver Rim.

Nice! Definitely some beautiful but desolate country in that area with some harsh weather sprinkled in for good measure!

Was built as a slaughterhouse by my grandfather probably in the 1940’s. Much of the history about the place is lost to time.

Grandfather was buying surplus horses from the army and making dog food. They brought ’em in by rail to a siding across the road. Awhile back while researching the local RR, I found a bill of lading from the last train to run that line and it mentioned horses dropped at that location.. possibly to their demise.

If you’ve driven to the Sonoma (CA) coast there’s a strong possibility you’ve driven by it.

Edit: oh, and I dug the old .22 rifle that was used to kill ‘em out of a dumpster.. it used to hang on the wall in the barn, rusting away, until someone grabbed it and stuck in in a corner in the garage. Years later I got wind if it ending up in a dumpster during a garage clean out.. rescued it and gave it some love and it’s a good shooter, though the rust pitting still shows through the re-blue job I did.
