What's new

Nuke Convoy

I was hoping for some apache helicopters in the air also. It would have been cool if the roof guns were manned.

ill attempt to.

My connection is real crap for uploading, much better for downloading.

As someone who was almost an hour late for work because they closed an interstate for VP Biden in 2008, definitely less security than the prez or vp LOL!!!

Less of a clusterfuck than the MA state police escorting the contractor carrying new MBTA subway cars on the interstate. :mad3:

We fly em outtah here on C-17's prety regularly. Didn't take pics of the one last week so heres a google earth shot.

They loaded up and split in the time it took me to grab lunch. Landed @ Whiteman AFB a short time later. :usa:

Convoy goes in front of my office every week. Not even impressive when you realize most the time there is nothing in the semi. There are more nukes within 90 miles of me then 95% of the world. More annoying than impressive :flipoff2:

Driver was probably too busy watching the cameraman instead of letting his passenger watch the camera man while he is supposed to drive:homer::laughing:

:lmao::lmao:

They would occasionally have one come through on a train when I was at the fire department. Our SOP for any issues was to just block traffic and stay minimum 1000 yards away and don't approach the train for any reason. Guards were supposedly authorized to shoot first and not ask any questions later. A couple of guys in the department were former military and said that was accurate. :usa:

Was on the transportation team for the Atlas V boosters. One of them ignited during transport near a city could kill 100s of thousands. I expressed concern that we were transporting in a soft side trailer. An incendiary rounds from the hillside near a city with correct winds could be devastating. I was told that we don't talk about that. Crazy.

That number sounds like Reddit type exaggeration.

If putting the hurt on NYC or SF were as easy as parking two big pressure vessels full of the right stuff on a trailer someone would've already done it.

Sooo what’s in the semi? Convoy with a nuke middle just driving around the country? The rear end accident video is a couple years old.

They are set up to carry the warhead of a Minuteman III missile. They will drive from the base out to the missile site and park on top of the missile and everything happens inside the trailer. But like I said before, most of the time it is an empty semi and for training. Only a couple people know when it's live. They cruise at a constant 55mph on the highway. Won't let anyone pass (I hear on the interstate they will allow passing). Once they leave the base they won't stop until they get to the missile site and same thing on the way back in and it always the same day.

The truck used to move the actual missile is a lot more impressive and doesn't get all the escort love :flipoff2:

Did you take that video?

It's clear that the Policeman who pulled over to tell the person that they couldn't video caused the events that led to the wreck. Awesome, make sure we don't have videos but almost cause a huge nuke disaster.
