Night vision hack

$325 for the Wraith HD 2-16x28

This wasn't in stock when I was looking last night or I might have bought it, since I found it before the Mini HD deal.

Damn good thing they don't ship up here, my bank account doesn't really need the extra hit this week.

I really don't like you at this second

I don't know how any of this works, but Google found this when I typed "package forward Manitoba."

Anyone use one of these? Best deal I could find for "new," these come without a package though, about the best deal I could find on something name brand with mostly good reviews at the usual places.

Ordered, deal is still on for $325 :smokin:

Got it in Wednesday, played with it a little yesterday, then threw it on the AR9. Its massive, and has a bit of heft to it. Need to go sight it in but daytime mode seems okay on it, its usable, nothing great. Would probably be best on something dedicated versus dual purpose. Need to see what it looks like outside after dark. I have a nice Surefire with has an IR filter, but the one that came with the scope seems decent indoors. Need to look into external power pack options but fuck is this AR9 getting fat

So the OP hack set up is still working well. The one thing I like about it is how fast it can be removed and replaced. Because the red dot stays, I don’t have to sight it in. It has a quick mount on the camera. As long as the camera is somewhat looking at the red dot, it’s sighted in. I have the remote screen and the ir light on a quick mounts also, so the whole setup goes on with three snaps.

The other thing that’s kind of nice is I don’t have to shoulder the rifle. I can hold it at my waist and look down at the remote screen. If the dot is on target and I pull the trigger, it hits. It’s not ideal, but it’s nice I don’t have to have a “dedicated” night gun. It wouldn’t really matter except this silly pistol round rifle is the funnest gun I own to shoot. (Without the night vision stuff)

so the midway deal enticed me on the wraith HD.

For $300 I think it's a pretty decent deal. I'm gonna play with it tonight in the dark and see how effective it is.

Dogs got skunked, well one did and the other rolled in the stink last night. Is the wraith still the budget go to?

Also anybody have a very quiet kinda budget setup for backyard critters/occasional coyote and turtle heads? Was looking at 22lr or maybe 9mm rifles but don't know whats legit and what isn't

Fill it with #6 or #4 2.5" shells and party.

Brother-in-law's hunting buddy got one of those Rattler Thermal scopes, he was gobsmacked by the amount of "critters" everywhere on his farm at night. Kind of funny, no clue what's out there in the dark, he was talking like there were raccoons, opossums, skunks, armadillos, etc. basically everywhere.

just remember, its only rated for recoil up to a 308. id be skeptical of going up to the limit though.
I read that after I got it, is that continued use or a one time deal?

I'm used to our equipment at work that has extremely understated limitations due to liability/legal issues. Will the 350 shooting 145gr be a big jump (this is all new to me)

But will it kill an electronic night vision?
That is the question :flipoff2:
Haven't shot a 350 legend, is the recoil worse than a 308? Can't have too much energy as they build them in ar-15s. I run my wraith mini on a 300bo. Definitely wouldn't expect one to survive on a big magnum.

Seriously is this an instant failure type thing or over time? I only put 20 rounds through it so far and stayed zero'd (?) and powered on the whole time lol

There has to be some buffer built into those limits

recoil of 350 legend is much less than that of the 308 winch. im sure you're going to be as ok as you can be with Chinese made optic/electronics.
