Warning

Don't get too excited, This will take forever, and you'll probably lose interest long before I finish. But I bought a stack of parts and think I'm going to make something of it.

This seemed like the best place to broadcast my failure:flipoff2::flipoff2:

The start is my trusty desert truck, it gets very little love and even less maintance but has yet to fail me. It sits in Parker Az. In storage.
The base is an 85 4runner, Dual cases 2.28/4.7, 35x12.5x15 Swamper LTB's mounted on Aluminum Beadlocks, Detroits front and rear, TG 6 shooters, TG hydro assist.
Motor has about 20K on it, bored 40 over some aftermarket "RV" cam I know nothing about and a Downey Offroad header with a flowmaster.

these were after doing Hydro assist, larger diameter steering and heim joints, and And all I could find was some poser pics around the house.

Now for the project part,
It started when my son found a new set of 40's cheap, like half price cheap. Because the guy was going to 42's, So I found a deal on some steel beadlocks and mounted them up, They've been sitting on the side yard for a few months while I decided what I was gonna do with them.

My son found them, so he got to help mount them.

Again in the background you can see we might have Toyota issues:lmao:

So at this point it was going to be drag the truck home buy Sawzall blades and make stuff fit, no real upgrade or plan other than 40's on the first gen.

Months go by, I hurt a shoulder, Rotator cuff surgery and I'm still rehabbing, but none of that slowed my son down, he finds and negotiates a deal on a Ruff Stuff front housing with pretty much everything to assemble it, I happen to have a High pinion housing in a box in the garage, I'll be doing 5.29's and an Elocker in the front, that measures out at 66".

I had no rear plan at this point, but now I was locked into a wide track setup, and was sweating what my rear option was going to be.

With some research I came up with a T100 option, stock they are 66" wide, and my research says they are durable enough, so A quick search and I found one local cheap.
And hauled the rear end home in ANOTHER 4runner I own.:lmao::homer:
3rd gen stocker is for sale.:flipoff2:

This picture is for representation only This will probably be what it ends up looking like, My goal is spring over.

NOT MY TRUCK.

I have months before it happens, just thought I'd post another thread I'll never finish:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

That looks familiar lol, let me know if you need any info. That’s my buddy’s rig Susan from HR

BUSTED

My son has been back and forth with him in detail, He's been pretty cool about it considering he has no idea who we are. I tried to block anything that would ID the truck since I punked his pic without permission.:homer:

For now my thoughts are run the leaf springs that I have with wider axles, My rig works pretty well as it sits so rather than change everything I was going to make one change at a time as needed.

He did say the T100 rear end has been pretty solid.

lol all good.

His rig did really well on leafs and those axles, the links definitely made it a new beast in the desert go fast stuff. I have wheeled with him for over 5yrs and have yet to see him break anything

Ok, enough time has gone by everyone may or may not have forgotten I started this thread. My shoulder is getting much better, so I have a VERY small update. I tore into the T100 rear end at a sloths pace. Pulled the stock R&P pulled the axles, Bought brake parts, Pads Springs and wheel cylinders, bearings and seals are on order.
I shaved off the perches and replaced the factory studs with ARP bolts from the back side.

I went out to the yard and dug out my home made axle press tool, and the 20 ton press just to find the press is bent. My son was pressing FJ80 radius arms and somehow did not kill himself. :homer:

I used the bent press for one axle and was not happy. So bought a new press and a new bearing tool ( so if anyone needs one I have one for loan.)

This is were I sit right now.

Today was new stuff.

Bearings, seals, brakes, wheel cylinders and associated hardware, I have one emergency brake cable that's been stretched out, so it's trash, New one is on order and so are weld on spring perches.

I could probably not do an ebrake, but I like the in dash handle, so I'm going to try and keep it. Brake drums need to be turned, and I need to shop 5.29's and a locker. probably going Detroit, that's what I have now and I like it.

I'm tired so Pics tomorrow, it's really nothing exciting:flipoff2:

The truck is 250 miles away, so I can't really weld on the perches for spacing and pinion angle, so the next move will be to start on the Ruff Stuff front axle.

Drag out the parts bin and start a parts list:smokin:

After doing all of this, I should have looked at the brakes and backing plates on my 85 axle, I might have been able to transfer all of that to these axles and not have to figure adapting the ebrakes over.

I still needed the bearings and seals, and the brake parts were cheap so not a huge loss.

If I didn't mention it I like the first gen hand brake as a hill holder with the manual trans.

EDIT

Rock auto says bearings are the same 1997 T110- 1985 4Runner, So brakes should transfer over.

My fab skills suck, but this piece of armor fit like shit, Or I'm too picky, anyways I worked way too hard making it fit.
And I used the 20T in a most dangerous fashion, and no one died
