For a kingpin Chevy D60 front axle, what are the most aggressive brake pads? (as in most braking power vs fluid pressure) Don't care about dust, noise or rotor life. Semi-metallic?
Thanks.

Depending on the semi metallic content; yes they will offer the best braking performance. As with anything not all brake pads are equal.

Semi metallic pads “sand” the rotor surface so they minimize material transfer. Material transfer is often caused by ceramic pads (when you feel a slight thumping in the pedal; If the rotor is blue you’ve heated it to the point that it is now warped)

Purchase high carbon rotors if you can, you might be able to machine them once the semi met pads are used up!

Raybestos makes some nice “truck” semi metallic options which shouldn’t be difficult to find for your application

It's more then just the material. They all have heat zones and each one has a different profile. Hawk or ETC tells you what that heat zone is. Like saying Aggressive, well when do you want that? Cold hard biting pads or after they have been heated up, etc.

Can’t get too technical or heads will spin! But you are right, in his application I’d never recommend the police pursuit pads because they only bite when they warm up. The truck pads are a good all around contender, especially for a wheeler

Pads came in and I mounted them. It's a noticeable improvement. Thank you.

Good info to know about those raybestos grade pads, and pretty reasonably priced. I've got a couple vehicles switched over to EBC yellow stuff pads, they're supposed to be the "high friction formula." It made a noticeable improvement switching from the unknown pads they replaced.
