What's new

Micky Pro X sizes ?

Sooo playing devils advocate here....I remember several videos of Jake Burkey hating his new treps and saying how he was switching back to the sx.
I've seen things like this stated before. I never had much issue with my 37's on a fullsize. They grip and rip rocks stumps roots and whatever else i lined them up with. How much did Jake's rig weigh?
I think treps are geared toward the heavier end of offroad. I'm going to be using them on a 6k rig(total guess right now) and think they should work just as well if not better then my 37's...i know guys who have used them on 5k rigs and did not like them. In all honesty i don't have much experience with other large tires to have a real world comparison beside going off what other have said.

I commented here based on my searches of the Pro X and XS’s but I’ve been called into question if I spoke correctly. Turns out he has XS’s for sale and he is 100% sure they are radial , which I can find no proof were ever produced…anybody ever seen in print or in person a radial version of the ProXS?
They are not radial. All Baja Pro XS are bias.

Maybe he thinks DOT approved is radial? If so, that’s not the case

hmmm, Im curious, I love the trep, they are awesome. I wonder if the 42" would work well on a 6k rig then.

Yep, 4-ply DOT doesn’t mean radial!

I contacted MT this morning and they replied back very fast and said Pro XS/X have never been radial and never will be. I found several street jeep forums with people talking about them and they all thought they were radials..I also found a motortrend article and they referred to them as radial a dozen times. Bad info spreads fast.

The bad part is that you cannot find any info that says otherwise... all of my looking up and trying to figure out pointed to them being radial. Nothing on their site says they aren't... the sizes even say 40x13.50r17.... the r means radial:homer:
Unless I'm wrong about the R:confused:

I knew they weren’t radials but figured it was bad info. I work in the tire industry and you’d be surprised how many times people think DOT automatically means radial.

There was a time, many years ago, tires were DOT approved but radial tires were not mainstream.

In short. Yes, Baja boss is radial.
Baja Pro X/XS are not.

That's just because people are dumb. There are still plenty of bias ply that are dot approved out there.

Treps work fine on any wieght rig. Lots of guys running them on ultra light buggies at trail hero.

Those southern guys will never sway from those 43 SX's no matter what is released

Bullshit.

The problem is that there is no tire that compare.

I've seen someone kill 2 sidewalls on BFG Krawlers, then out of spite, switched to Treps then he killed another sidewall. All that in 2 outings.
Guy sold all the tires, bought some 43 SXs and no more problems.

Say what you want, but they are tough, lugs are big and that's what most people look for around here. The Mickey XS kinda got popular for a while after they got released. I think they dig better (loose conditions) but they aren't as strong and guys were busting sidewalls too. So everybody went back to 43SXs.

I wanted sx's... but there was no delivery date, so i opted for the next best thing IMO:laughing:

Easy, I'm not saying the 43 sx isn't good, was just talking a little shit:flipoff2:

I've heard the 42 treps have a thinner sidewall than the 40s to reduce wieght. I have heard a few were disappointed in the sidewall durability. Saying 42 treps don't work is pretty retarded though. They are probably the most universal tire out there. Not sure if any other tire is as widely used across all regions? Heck even down under.

I'm curious if the sticky 47 ltb will gain popularity. I've always liked the size of them, but the standard compound was terrible.

Damn, so I'm going to walk my statement about their sizing back... they don't say 40x13.50r17 anywhere... not sure why that's what i remember. I could swear i saw that on their website, but it's definitely not there now. I searched far and wide when i was about to buy them(was going to purchase either way) and couldn't find a definitive answer on bias or not. Now we know they're bias ply, which makes more sense then my memory:laughing:
I likely saw it one time in band camp or some shit:homer:

Absolutely !

Soooo heavy !
They even made a 45SX 2 sticky and I've yet to see it used successfully.

They're in stock at Goforth now I think. He got a couple of semis in a couple of weeks ago.
