good afternoon all
it is easy to install the oil pressure line right to the oil pan but when i installed the Accumulator that is where it needed to go and i decided to use the factory OIL pressure spot in the top of the engine behind the intake. the first time i did this it was a pain in the butt because i used an adapter and the little tiny compression fitting leaked like a champ because i could not get a wrench on it. fail on my part. bad leaks. Talk to Dave (neighbor buddy) and he said what he did was use a grease gun hose, they are 1/8 npt. some bitch

this solved my entire mess. i did not take any photos of it. but i will list the parts i used. the best part was i could put all the fitting together on the bench and only fitting i had to reach in behind the intake for was the adapter one. one few wrench turns and done.

this part goes into the engine and replaces the factory oil pres sending unit. has a goffy shaped head

then one of these adapters to go from 1/4 to 1/8 npt

then this hose

and now i can put the oil pressure line fitting at the end of this hose. super easy to get too also.

Or, you could use an electric oil pressure gauge and not fuck with all of this haha :P

FYI, ICT makes a direct 1/8 adapter to LS oil pressure port :

Used a adapter from ( sensor thread ) to -6 AN with mechanical SW gauge.

Speed shop in town had the adaptor or maybe it was the hydraulic shop.

honestly i dont know. i rarely look at the gauge. maybe just a idiot light would be the ticket. its not like its a fresh engine that i have to be careful. hell this one has over 240,000 lol

I'm running an extra quart in my truck pan, been vertical a few times and on steep decent. Never noticed oil pressure drop off.

I know Bkor stresses them in rock bouncers and ultra 4 cars but for a rec wheeler is it needed? Specially on an old ass engine?

I am running one of the low profile oil pans. And first trip out on a steep decent loss of oil pressure. Truck pan plus 1 I feel like is the ticket.

i think it depends on a lot more. i have a truck pan and an accumulator running on the prime port of the oil pump.

for me ( us european) even a junkjard lq4 is 4000 dollar. I'm not gonna risk an engine for an accumulator of 100 dollar.
When standig on the nose. on idle oil pressure still drops die 15-19 psi running 10W60

Wouldn't a old ass engine be the prime candidate for at least a low psi light? You have a stock pump feeding an engine with loose bearing clearances. When things get sloppy, the end of the line might not get all the oil it needs.

If you're changing seals, you're usually changing an oil pump. Which normally everyone does on a JY engine.

And most vehicles getting swapped gave oil pressure gauges... Least mine does.

The oil pressure is the lifeblood of your engine so unless you have unlimited money and time its a good idea to keep an eye on it.
