i need a set of rear axle shafts for a 2003 Toyota Tacoma prerunner...3.4 auto 4 door...had a leak, decided to pull to replace seals, brgs, etc, rebulid 3rd...pulled brgs off to find someone had torched the races off in the past and cut deep into the shafts...now I cant find shafts, except new for $400 each.

anyone have a set of shafts for sale?

located in SW OK.

do I need to ask in CC?

I'm no help, but you might have better luck searching for a salvaged complete rear end.

tried that, too.

as soon as I say Taco rear axle, they say NO and hang up.

let me get a measureement.

Weld up the gouges, smooth them out and send it. It's a 2wd truck that probably only sees street use, if they were going to break they would have done so when the original hacker put it back together with the gouged shafts and ran it like that.

I would worry more about them leaking because they have gouges and don't seal.

the axles are actually pretty good size

Yep, they both leaked, loss of fluid caused brg failure...these came out while rebuilding the 3rd member, decided to replace seals and brhs amd found the carnage.

I thought everyone knew that you can cut a groove into a race with a cutoff wheel and then smack the groove with a punch and hammer to crack it and get it off easily. Using a torch to do that is some meat head shit.

my guy building the axle says he doesnt trust it and doesnt want to take a chance reusing them...but, dam these are unicorn dust...ill have measurements this afternoon.

length
spline count
dia at each end.

were at the 90+ day mark, I need it fixed, he needs the shop space.

OK
29.25" long wheel mounting flange to end of splines
30 spline
1.275" on spline
1.575" for brg race
2.125" for outer seal

Both are identical.

Can confirm 3rd gen 4runner and that gen tacoma are the same for the tacoma use.

The 4runner shafts might have a little more length on the ground bearing portion for the ABS tone ring/retainer but you can use Taco bearings and retainers on them just fine with your taco backing plates/bearing holder.

I have a taco shaft in my 3rd gen elocker axle.

Where are you measuring length from, from the WMS? I'll look at what I have, I'll need to press them apart to get other measurement's off of them.

I have 2 sets that measure 26" the back of the bearing. Pictures to follow.
