What do you guys like for LED headlamp/fog lamp bulbs?

i’ve had a pair of Fahren’s in my van for at least a year. I had issues with flickering , but after I secured the ballasts they seem to be fine.

I need something for the wife’s’14 Cheroke. Wanted to see if there are any go to brands or specific brands to avoid

Just put in some AUXITO H7 LED Light Bulbs 6500K White for my Mazda (Uses H7 bulb for the low beams) and I've been happy with them. Just put them in like a week ago. Pretty damn cheap on Amazon. Worth looking into if her car uses the CANBUS system or not (might trigger bulb out on dash), but my car is old/simply enough it doesn't matter.

There's a ton of videos on replacement bulbs that may work but suck for other drivers or aren't optimized for the factory housings. I used Rigid D series amber Rigid fogs and spots that are damn good well in snow and shitty weather.

I vote for the curved 52" light bar bolted zip tied to the hood. Get a white one if you wanna be fancy
FIFY

I just go with whatever has a pile of decent reviews on Amazon. If you do have dual bulbs make sure they have high and low beams

How much of a difference do the yellow fog lights make? Been seeing alot of them lately

I looked on super bright led's for some yellow fogs for my Scoob. Their price for chicom versions were higher than I anticipated. Will be going with some Rigid selective yellows before long.

In my case I'd say in shitty, foggy inclement weather they are better they just don't have the distance or clarity of a white light in clear conditions. This is based on my use of Rigid and Diode Dynamics lights.

Gotcha. Most the led stuff I have been around was bright but it kinda bled out fast. Not much range. I dont deal with fog much. But alotta roads with no white line, get one of those nights that is just DARK an high beams or a lil cheasy light bar in the bumper just dont cut it.

Morimoto 2stroke bulbs. The chips on then are tiny, and more equal to a halogen bulb. Chip location is also spot on. Just make sure you clock them properly for your housing.

Chinese dual beam ones are decent..... For low beam use.... The high beams on why of the ones I've seen or used are garbage though.

Also, I run Rigid SR Series PRO 6" SAE/DOT LED fogs, sometimes with the amber lenses.

I've run Oracle and Auxbeam replacement bulbs. Both produce a stock shaped beam in the housings I've used when clocked properly I just bought some Hikaris for the wife's car but I haven't installed them yet. Guy at work has them in several cars and is happy with them.

That's how the ones in my DD are (Oracle brand). Low beam is bright, good stock pattern etc... High beam just scatters light everywhere. I don't use the highs at all, I have the smallest Vision-X light cannons in the stock fog position and Hella 700's behind the grille that pick up where the low beam stops.

In actual fog? A lot. Using them for driving when its clear? Douchebag ricer.
Reflections (off signs and such) aren't as bad with yellow driving lights at least for me.

I have Rigid D series sae fogs in white. The cutoff is very good on them, have never been flashed with them on.

I spent half the day installing Fahrens in my shitbox Subaru. I'm far from stupid, but I could not make them work right. The high and low beams were reversed,. (dimmer switch in low, bulbs would be in high, visa versa) because this particular car switches the ground instead of the feed.

I eventually gave up. This car has a 20" LED bar on it for long range and some amber LED fogs for shitty weather, so the standard halogen bulbs will work fine for everything else.

I'm still not sold on most LED for headlights. Have BD and Diode's both ice up in snowy weather pretty quickly. I prefer the Amber for all around use. Beam throw doesn't seem to change on the BD's I have. Normal H4 or HID for me in headlights for ice and snow.

Didn't know you also had a shitbox Subaru. Hope that wasn't you that never turned your LED, hood-mounted light bar off even in the broad daylight on La Veta Pass

X2.

sucks driving into those, the light is so scattered, can’t image the driver can see shit with them
Low beams on my van with stock housings give me a good pattern. No one flashes me at night either so I must not be blinding too many people. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyone who runs LED or HID bulbs in halogen housings can fuck right off.
That's were research and adjusting them come into play. Yes there are plenty of shitty bulbs out there that do exactly what you say, but there are some that are pretty decent. I spent hours looking at reviews, watching videos and visiting forums to see what ones that would be a good fit. I ended up with Fahren for my truck. They've given me a good beam pattern and don't scatter light the way some of the lower rated ones do.

I still need to adjust them up because they're set a bit low, but that's just because I'm lazy and I'm worried my adjusters are seized and they'd break when I try to move them. Still better than stock though.

Yes, but the vast majority of morons out there aren't going to put in any research and sure as hell aren't going to go adjust their headlights. We are a VERY small, and increasingly so, segment of the general car buying/driving public.

Regular schmucks aren't putting in hours of research on a light bulb. I've put LED fogs in my Si and the 450 and they help greatly. When I get the new bumper for the truck I think I'm going to go with some Baja Designs Amber Fogs in some flavor. The 450 can be converted to OEM LED headlights which I'd like to do, but that's very costly.

Meanwhile, while I used to love driving at night, I'm liking it less and less as every asshole on the road seemingly has their high beam death rays on all the day and it's straight up blinding most of the time.

Wife got a pair of those amber night driving glasses and while they certainly do work to knock 98% of the glare out of oncoming headlights, they also make the shadows worse and limit peripheral vision.

Does anyone make a pair of glasses, or some other contraption, that filters out the oncoming headlights but doesn't darken everything else?

Only thing I hate about LED's is they don't put out enough heat to melt snow/ice from the housing in the winter, forcing you to pull over to clear them off.
Truth. Probably the main reason I've left my 3rd gen dodge on halogen bulbs. With the shape of the body, ice naturally builds up on the housings.

Yes, amber fog bulbs make a huge difference in both fog and heavy snowfall, much less reflection off the moisture particles.

If you pay more than 12 bucks for the LED bulbs they work fine. Low beam in my F150.

I use whatever Amazon stuff comes up for add on off road LEDs. Not much for obvious losers there. A little water in housings etc. but overall ok. I just look at the ratings and try and get the better stuff.

My wife 2013 F-150 was pretty bad. I got some LED's from Superbrite LED and the first set quit pretty quickly. Returned them and then got a replacement set and was pretty careful in mounting the ballasts. They are not water tight and my driveway is real rough and real wet. When I did a pretty thorough job of mounting everything they have been fine for about 8 months.

Wasn't impressed initially but it was likely my fault.

She does not complain and you can finally see something without being flashed all the time. Took some effort to get them aimed.

I have had good results with all of the morimoto HID bulbs I've used.
I put some yellow 2stroke LED ones in my fog housings and they've been fine, but I'm not a douche that uses them in anything other than low visibility, so they've probably only been on for maybe an hour in the past two years.

My PIAAs are fine once adjusted. I did have to aim them down a little once I put the leveling kit and 35s on, but they are aimed according to the aiming machine at the shop. They are bright as hell if they hit you right, but topping hills where the cutoff is above an oncomming car is just a thing we all have to deal with. They will turn off street lights at a couple spots in town where I can beam the sensor on top of them. :flipoff2:
