LED head/fog light bulbs that don’t suck

Highjack-

Ouch! Those are painful to look at, like an old dog with cataracts!

I used 600/800/1000 sandpaper, then PlastX polish, then lens film to keep the UV off (I think LaminX?) on my wife's car. This pic is 4-5 years later.
You can see the difference UV protection makes.

I am running Hikaris in our rav4 and f150. They work with the OEM reflectors and give a lot of light without blinding other drivers.

Agree.

I did that, but found the inside of the lense was the same way.
So now it keeps me legal via 'headlights on'.

But the real lighting now comes from the Walmart LED lightbar.

If you want to try out yellow lights without spending a bunch of $$$ you could put some Lamin-X on your current lights. I ran their film on my stock fogs for a couple years before I swapped them out. After going to yellow on my driving lights I'm hooked. Bright enough lights 100% will still reflect off the fog but it's nowhere near as hard on your eyes.

Got the lense film/applied it to the Walmart LED flood light.

It's snowing heavy; going to the storage unit with the amber/fog light on.:grinpimp:

Hikaris in my Ram 3500 for lows, Aux Beam 16000 Lumen for highs, Hikari for fogs. Plenty of light. In my S4 I run Osram HID's and for fogs I have a set of switchbacks from DE-Auto so I can run them as 6k white LED, Yellow LED, or 4k normal LED. Very nice to be able to switch to yellow in the winter or when the roads wet and back to white when its not.

interesting, i may have to find some of that film and try it out.
TrikeKid provided a link in an earlier post:

Browse the website; they got some cool stuff.

I got a 2"X20" amber/yellow colored strip for $16 shipped.
Thick material.

Cut out of work an hour early today and decided to use the extra daylight to put the new lamp in.

the fog lights went fine. I think they may need to be adjusted to get the right pattern, but I need to contact SuperBrightLEDs to see how that’s done (if possible).

got the headlight done and everything seemed fine until I had everything buttoned up and was about to go for a drive. Every time i cycled the headlight switch they would come on for about a second and then go out. Tried this about 5 times then gave up and put the halogen bulbs back in. Not sure if it’s a CANBUS issue or something else. Guess I need to research that.

A lot of newer vehicles will freak out when they don't detect the resistance of a normal bulb. You may have to enable an LED option with a scan tool or reflash or use resistors.

I just ordered a pair from SuperBrightLEDs. I’ll return the Amazon pair or see if they will work in one of our other vehicles.

if I need to add the resistors it’s only $15.00

Weird thing is that they worked fine until the vehicle was running. Or I didn’t leave them on long enough when testing for the issue to show up.

Thats the Canbus. On my Ram I can set the vehicle to think it has HID's and it removes the Pulse Width Modulation that is trying to detect the halogen bulb and freaking the canbus out. A resistor can do the same thing if your vehicle doesnt have the option to be re-coded. I was able to do this with an Autel scanner.

not sure if it can be recoded or not. I'll order the resistors.

THanks:beer:

Just installed a set of hikari 9006 replacements.

Off to research the UV film application stuff.

We'll see how well these bulbs work - definitely more light - literally night and day difference, even though I think the K of the LED's is closer to 6K, instead of 5K or so.
