The media seemed to disagree with that?

I'm sure they're trying, but there's all kinds of issues, property line disputes, current code, land stabilization, haz-mat issues, and all of that is bureaucracy that the local .gov is under equipped to handle all at once.

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."

It's funny, my sister is a recently retired mid-high level manager at the LA County Assessors office, and she's been providing pro-bono assistance to home and business owners that are concerned about understanding their taxes going forward both near and long term. I guess she is providing a service, but it's not like she rode in with a white hat. I don't say nothin'.

So the CA government is buying large plots in the Palisades to build low income housing. Someone please explain...
If I had to guess, they can refuse to issue building permits for anything that's not a direct/ exact replacement of what burned down (since rebuilding a 900 sf bungalow would be financially ******ed) since the percentage of low income housing does not meet the 'unified development ordinance' plan/restrictions and thus strong-arm / quid-pro-quo larger developers into either selling .gov land or committing to build a low income apartment property in exchange for issuance of the permits on their other luxury condo projects.

Literal .gov extortion; and it's not unique to cali- it occurs in most metro areas across the country. :shaking:

maybe the county set the fires just for this reason. let me tighten my foil hat. :lmao:

Interesting insights from a public(freelance) insurance adjuster (makes money squeezing money from insurance co's).

^insufferable self-important 'real housewives of malibu' winemom interview about her house that 'ya, its like suuuuper toxic-lannnddd now' at 1:02:30 ish is quintessential cringeworthy cartoonishly Cali stereotype for your hate-watching pleasure if you're into that sort of thing.

(sidenote; I tried to get one of these asjusters local to me for a $50k roof claim i was getting jerked around on and ultimately shorted about $15k on roof underlayment costs, and nobody will take you on unless you're dealing with at least $50-100k+ in extra funds for them to take commission on.)

9 months later and still no reconstruction in Malibu

Lots starting to go up for sale

Apparently some of these lots have already been sold to Chinese folks :shaking:

Carolla is an interesting dude. part genius, part fool. he hates 'LA' in a lot of ways, he hates rich people, but, he kind of wants to 'BE THEM'.

He is like the dude who joins a country club and buys a house with an HOA, then complains about the rules and all the ****s at the country club.

And to top it off, he'll be all 'free market capitalism' but get his protectionist panties in a wad when someone else wants to practice it.

He is funny and I still listen to him, and he is really smart in some ways, but man, is he conflicted and doesn't seem to know it.

yeah, he's trying to walk the fine line of calling out lefty hollywood bull**** without getting fully blackballed/cast out from the social circle. But it is at least refreshing to hear someone applying reason and rational thought to things in that scene...

and he's very much in denial about his buddy Kimmel not being a morally bankrupt piece of ****.

I always liked Adam. I never was a fan of Kimmel. He is kind of the 'boss' between the two (it seems) and he is a grifter all day long. Adam is the guy who got out of being poor (I think he started off with the same kind of 'no chance' **** I started off with, so I understand him) You are right he is probably just trying to walk the fine line to avoid cancellation... I just wish he didn't suck so much rich guy ****... I'm not gonna lie, I hate rich people who didn't do **** to get it. I admire people who clawed their way up... but trustafarians and soft rich people... they suck... and I don't like nor value the same things they do and I don't fear poor people like they do.

My wife says I still am more comfortable on the poor side of town and it is true... fancy **** annoys me.

I don't think AC cares much about being cancelled (anymore) his takes are mostly real IMO.

He was talking about Charlie Kirk and all the lefties that were applauding and he compared it to a old neighbor that started **** with him, he called it consistent, he said the old man died he didn't celebrate his death but he damn sure didn't mourn it.

I think that's pretty honest (if we all think about a similar case) we'd be similarly effected if Joe Biden crashed out.

exactly. my wife and I will hear about some person dying and we're just like FTG, but not out loud to anyone... I don't spend any energy wishing death on people... but, I don't mourn people who I think were ****s. Or, often, people I just don't know... some ****ing movie star or something... I don't know them, shrug... whatevs.

I've always told my kids that the key is consistency. With people, with work with relationships. Be who you are all the time...

Local guy I knew was a real POS, but we had a lot of mutual friends. When he died (OD'ed) someone was carrying about about how sad it was and that I didn't seem to care. I said he was a woman beating drug addict, I don't feel anyway about his death, I feel bad for the people who liked him and their loss. You don't have to like the person, but you gotta remember thats someone's brother/son/dad/uncle/ect.

I'll say to that murder in a public space adds a completely different feel...

But it might be hypocritical of me to even guess how I would respond since none of the lefties ever get shot at, except for that one time. 😉

the talk show dude in Denver was a lefty and he was assassinated back in the 80's... the guy who did him was a kook.

kooks on all sides and all turn to violence eventually.

I was 4....
It seems White supremacists got him, they are always getting off the porch.

I've known two white supremacists (well, the two that were 'out') and listening to them talk about other white supremacist groups was like listening to your hyper christian friends who go to those mega churches... all the infighting and politics and internal scheming and hatred... it was wild how they would rail against the other groups...

I do appreciate when people of conviction act on their beliefs!

programming reinforces that, they're collectivist NPCs same as any other
get people hooked on something they'll get emotional about; then pit them against their neighbors while all their **** gets stolen
