Jake’s probably gonna get a few hits in and get cocky. Then get cocked.

Back in the early days of MMA there was the 25ish kid that ko’d a guy in under a minute and then was bragging he’d take on anyone in the crowd. Finally some old fat white guy steps up. I thought it was going to get ugly and it did. That old fucker beat that kid around the ring like a rented mule until he was completely gassed. About the time the kid could see straight again the old boy would get another wind and beat on him some more.

Doesn’t happen often, but it’s hilarious when it does. :smokin:

I've got 5" and 100+ lbs on Mike Tyson. I've never lost a fight in my life and you couldn't pay me to step into a ring with Tyson even now.

I would fight Jake Paul with zero hesitation right now and Paul is a better fighter than he gets credit for, but 60 years old or not he's not even close to Mike Tyson.

I think that was why Butterbean was so popular. Saw a vid of him recently, that dude has been on the hard road to recovery.

Man Paul needs to take a fight with a modern pro boxer. Not this old guy mma guy football guy bs. With that said I how Tyson lights him the fuck up. Not sure if he still has the endurance as he’s damn near 60 now.

Fucker can still throw bombs. His footwork and body positioning is spot on.

Unpopular opinion but this is what’s wrong with combat sports today. To ironically quote Tyson “the guys today are businessmen, we were killers.”

As a lifelong fan of the sweet science I fully understand I’m not the demographic this is being marketed to, however anyone who saw Mike vs RJJ knows dude shouldn’t be back in the ring. Especially when there’ll be a contract chock full of spurious and shady clauses.

I can’t abide this pseudo-celeb sham fight craze (has anyone who has bought one of these PPVs honestly thought it was worth it?) and won’t support it by watching. I don’t hate that both dudes are making bank, but I refuse to be PT Barnum’s sucker either.

Don't hate what these guys are doing or people who support them, but they’re trampling on a sport I love so won’t be party to it.

It's sad what's happened to boxing. It's a straight up carnival side show these days. All the "big fights" are guys way past their prime, YouTubers, or crossover fights with MMA fighters.

I agree that you aren't the target, I'm not going to watch it either, but it's tough to deny that it is a PR boost to the sport. MMA absolutely crushed boxing. Into the ground, Mayweather was the last fighter to be worldwide, and he was generally boring to the masses. It's been over 20 years since a heavy hitter made headlines....

Something has to change in a big way to get the talent and kids coming up to go away from the octagon

MMA popularity seems closer to WWF. Peacocks grandstanding the ring with people tuning in hoping a particular guy gets smeared. Boxing seems the opposite, where people watch to see a particular guy win. With the direction society is heading following social media stars and stupidity, I dont see Boxing making a comeback unless they start doing the sensationalist battles between over the top freaks. Appreciation of sporting/physical ability seems lost in the fighting sports world.

MMA didn't kill boxing as much as boxing killed boxing. It was a bunch of old dinosaur promoters who didn't want to do the work of building up new names so they rode the old names into the ground. You don't see boxers doing crossover promotions in MMA, you see MMA fighters doing crossover promotions in boxing because that's where he money's at. The UFC pretty much has a monopoly in MMA and they don't call it U Fight Cheap for nothing.

I'm a fan of both sports but boxing is just a shit show right now and it's not MMA's fault.
