Hydro assist mounting location

I'm looking for advice on how to mount my hydro assist. I had come up with two options.

First:
Mount it on the new panhard bar bracket. It seems to have enough clearance. My concern is stress on the panhard bracket because holding the axle in place plus push/pulling.

Second:
Mount on a tab for a sway bar mount I'm not using. This has maybe 1/32" clearance between the diff cover and the cylinder. Photo taken with the steering fully turned left.

mounting it driver side only has the tie rod above it. I would t expect the tie rod to move during articulation.
 
caster says it will move up and down.

I like the panhard bar bracket location better.
Why? It seems much more likely to smash into things like rocks or the panhard bar itself.
 
No need to remove the ram if you need to open the cover.

IDK that's what seems the best to me.
Both would do the job fine.

I thought about that when I saw how tight it was. It might not be so bad if it's just the two hydro assist bolts. I sort of assume if I'm pulling the diff cover I messed something up real bad, or I'm sitting at home.
 
I dont like the moving end in the middle. I have seen many tie rods flex or bend versus turn the wheels...

I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean by 'the moving end'? In both pictures the cylinder body would be mounted to the axle, and the piston/ramrod would move away from the tires.

Are you saying the ram might cause the tie rod to bend?

when you place the moving end of the ram, in the middle of the tie rod, with enough bind it wants to force the tie rod out. Versus at the end of the tie rod near the knuckle.

Just for clarification... you're not talking about the body or rod end of the ram itself, you're talking about where the mount is on the tierod correct... end of ram mounted to one side or the other of tierod, not in the middle.

correct, i would still mount the body end to the axle, but have the rod end torwards the end of the tie rod. That said, tons do it it the other way.
 
Thanks. I’ll look into a third option. I have seen people also run it directly to their high steer. I’m not sure I could do that with my setup right now.
 
Yeah, I'm very limited with my SOA setup right now. But that does make sense as it's pushing pulling more at the arm versus in the middle of a flexible tube
 
Yield strength of 0.25 wall DOM is around 70k PSI. Would this be where it breaks, or bends?

Would installing the ram in this fashion be better on a heavy street driven truck with 37s?
