Been looking for something to replace wifes leased wrangler. Nothing new I wanted to spend money on for what is essentially a third car. Needed to be awd, not rusted to fuck, not overly outdated looking, and ideally something I could pay cash for. Not much out there.Looked for weeks and ended up with a garage queen 2014 Mercedes c300. Doesn't look like it has ever been out of the garage in a NY winter. Haggled some, and got it for $13,750 from the local Lexus dealer. New genuine Benz brakes, new Continental DWS tires. Has a repair in the driver seat from a puncture, really only fault I could find crawling all over and under it. All service done at the local Mercedes dealer. 82,4×× miles. I know better... reallly I do.

Saw the last beauty on the way home. Had to turn around to get a pic.

It was a smoking deal for an LJ at the beginning of covid when everyone was locked up in there cellars. Cheaper than most everything else considering the corporate partnership where I worked at the time. Dealership just about begged me to take it to keep the lights on.

You just answered your own question, you are just trying to get internet friends to make you feel good about a bad decision.

If you go to a steak restaurant, you get a steak. If you go to a seafood joint, you get the seafood. If you get a Merc, you get the big boy car with a V8. It's what they do best.

disgusting.

I don't know fuck all about mercedes, but as a purveyor of many 10+ year old euro shitboxes my recommendation is to chinese counterfeit whatever factory adapter mercedes uses and steal the software.

you're gonna need it.
I always figured if you are going to suffer through owning a German, at least make it a spicy variant. No reason to be slow in between breakdowns.

VAGCOM has saved my Audi owning ass a few times:laughing: Agreed on getting factory level software now.

I just don't understand how mercedes gonna build a 3.5L V6 that only makes 248hp.

also not a huge fan of direct injection from the era, so hopefully merc got that more right than BMW or VW.

Entertainment purposes only... I assure you.

Pretty much all cars suck. I had a 10 year old 525 that the body control ecu caught on fire and ruined most of the under dash wiring. 75 butt splices later and a new ecu, I sold it with full disclosure for more than I had in it. Crapshoot really. This one has a trouble free past as far as I can tell. And no rust. In 5 years it will be rusted to fuck here in NY and sent down the road probably in 3.

LJ is rusted to fuck and it is 3 years old. Paint flaking off the tailgate, frame looks like its 10 years old. Gladiator I had looked the same way after 3 years even after touching the frame up every spring. The liquid calcium chloride they switched to here is no joke, way worse that sodium chloride.

It is the wife's car... I will probably never drive it. 100 hp is more than enough for her.

Wheels were leased with the rest of the JL.

Probably severely detuned for the MPG's and EPA.

I'd imagine its like the DI in my Audi, IE hes gonna get familiar with walnut shells or giving money to his dealer every ~50k.

can't be worse than BMW injectors.

we did two sets in my brother's e60. N54 life.

Good info, I havn't seen a bunch of complaints of carbon on these. Other issues for sure. Most of it piddly crap with an occasional timing chain issue. Previous owner was using the Benz dealer for even oil changes, no record of anything other than a belt tensioner changeout when he purchased it in 2017.

It's definitely detuned. Scoots along well enough for what it is, though. Sounds meaner than it moves.

I don't know enough about it to know if it's gonna be a problem child or not, but I know it's gonna cost you on the long run, your wife is a euro luxury kinda girl now, good luck going backwards:laughing:
