Did you just drill a hole and run a log screw into each of the handrail uprights? Looks like one bolt in the bottom C channel you made to hold them.

Did you just drill a hole and run a log screw into each of the handrail uprights? Looks like one bolt in the bottom C channel you made to hold them.

The 2x4 was notched to fit into the stake pockets, so the uprights can’t go any lower, the lag screw was so they couldnt be lifted out. With all of the handrail connected there is so much friction the lag wasn’t really needed. I thought it might help with stability in the rail, but I need to stuff a shim in the upper pocket.

The lag only goes into the wood, not through into the channel.

And then it got used. No good pics of it in the day…yet. Lot of compliments during the party from those that know how long it’s been.

It was pretty cool, the mariachi started playing in the field as they walked across.

Can’t believe I put this off so long.

Still to do, put some Helmsman on the deck boards, need to sand and do another coat on the hand rails.

Here is day time pics. In summer water is about 6-8” deep and bottom of bridge is about 7’ off the water.

Although this thread has me wondering if I should put a bridge across the creek on the family property just because it looks pretty cool.
