Help me plan a trip to Dc

You really should re-plan the trip for July 4th. The DC fireworks are huge, huge enough that you can just drive to the top of some random parking garage 10mi out and watch them.
That’s during the working season. It would be tough to get a week off that time of year and not have everything go to shit.

Skip that entire shithole and save yourself the misery. Go someone else.
Lol we can handle 1 week a year in a shithole city. Need to get the kids out of our bubble every now and again. We live in gods country bfe so our tolerance for that shit is there. To go and move there, fuck that:lmao:

Todays commute :lmao: A total of 9 stop signs to go 90 miles on 2 lane roads.

I think you have it backwards.
From the pic i took i know Enola Gay is at Udvar-Hazy next to Dulles. Old phone had my picture of Bockscar. I don't know much about airplanes but I try and stop at airplane museums when I'm around them. The museum near Omaha is a nice half day outing that has some random planes in it.

I would have sworn they had Bockscar when I visited. Whatever. Basically the same plane.

We went a few years back, stayed in a campground in College Park Md. Had permanent site cabins along with camper slots. Huge playground for the kids. Metro bus had a stop at the entrance, took the bus to the train. Got to see all.the sites,no fighting with traffic or parking problems

Just got back from DC last week. All the posts mentioned are worth it. METRO everywhere! I believe the METRO now runs all the way to Dulles, but not 100%. I know they have been extending the Silver line that way for years...

I usually stay in the residence Inn courthouse over in Arlington VA. The Orange/Silver METRO has the Courthouse stop basically under the hotel. good eats and entertainment near the hotel if you don't want to go into the city right away. easy access to DCA from Orange to Blue line transfer in Rosslyn station. Download the METRO map to your phone.

I think your schedule is actually weak you will have time to see several things in between American history miami and natural history museum and both air and space should be added. And Smithsonian zip up in Chevy chase

There is a small diner across from Ford theater and where Lincoln died I’ve done breakfast at. I actually proposed by the Washington monument.

I did the chaperone thing for my daughter's class, 7th grade I think. The most we walked in one day was 9 miles. We stayed right in DC at Hotel Harrington and used the Metro alot. We were there a week and it was awesome seeing stuff I'd learned about. Gettysburg was amazing, definitely hallowed ground.

Lincolns waffles. Good stuff, just had it

Agree with many of the museums listed age of kids does matter for some like Holocaust Museum. Zoo is really cool. Smithsonian's tons to chose from pick ones you're interested in. Tomb of the unknown is great make sure you do schedule to get there for the changing of the guard.

One thing I didn't see mentioned is 8th & I which is the marine corp silent drill team presentation which is pretty amazing. SILENT DRILL PLATOON

Food lots of different options probably way more worldly than you are used to but practically any type of food you can imagine and honestly I've used yelp and tripadvisor since there are so many options and they change a lot

If you guys want to venture out in the surrounding areas if you get tired of DC there are some great things to check out in MD and VA.

I would really look at getting some DC Metro passes and do a lot of your inner DC movement via that. Gives the kids a new experience, makes your life easier not having to park a tank everywhere.

Dulles has it's own rail system, the one you see in Die Hard 2, but that connects to a shared station with the Silver line now. Been that way for a few years.

It's another 2 hours or so to Charlottesville, but Thomas Jefferson's house is worth going to out there. Lots to do in that area as well its not far from some nice scenic OHV trails in the George Washington National Forest. You can pick up trail passes from any of the convenience stores near the trails. Everything but Big Levels is doable in a stock whatever. More or less glorified dirt roads.

Baltimore deserves it shitty reputation as well, but there's an awesome aquarium there and the National Harbor is worth checking out as well, only 20 min or so outside DC. Not sure about the area near the aquarium, but they do keep the area around the National Harbor safe and the shitbags out. Would have no idea it's in Baltimore otherwise.

Northern VA is one of the worst parts of the country to drive in. Everyone is either doing 110 or 35 on 95 and the beltway and everyone doing 35 is either Chinese or Indian and absolutely oblivious to everyone else.

You're cutting a bunch of white women too much slack and you're not giving enough credit to hapless Asians in expensive cars.
