Theyre a posi and kind half way between a govlock and a real posi.

As they bind, they will ramp up the points of the pins and apply slighly more psi on the clutches.

And it’s probably worn out. Rebuild kit is 150 for clutches and up to 400 for a complete kit. Spool is 200. Paid 200 because it already has 4.56 gears.

They usually are....in relatively low miles.

Sure but why? They are actualy worth something.

Pull it apart and lay one half in the carrier set the other gear on top and tack, chevk the case half still fits then weld away. I did it to a 14bff govlock.

This is supposed to be a cheap build. 200 for the axle, 60 to turn drums and 55 for brake shoes. 125 for new bearings plus wheel cylinders and I’m over 500 then add the power lock rebuild and then it’s close to a thousand.
Would I be better off building a 14 bolt?

MEh, youll be in the same boat for money on it.

If you dont think youll breal a d60 then 14bff will be waste of effort for peace of mind

How much power, tore and weivht are you gona put on it. The 14bff will get you 1.5" shafts were the d60 should be 30sp 1.3(?) 30 if not 16/17 spl.

Youll spend just as much on 14bff brakes if you dont swap discs cause "its only like $50 more" and the a detroit and gears unless you happen to find a cucv take out.

Take youre power lock to a diff shop and mooch some extra thrust washers off the rack of a million hooks with shims. Welding it is only going to make it harder on the d44 sized shafts and drive like dog **** on the street.

Date code looks like 4-11-1969. Might be coarse spline axles. Run it as is until it breaks an obsolete axle shaft then swap in a 14 bolt.

I should have asked these questions before I had the drums turned and bought brakes. Crap.
