heim joints what lasts the longest?

My emf 1 1/4's are from like 2014 and still tight as the day i bought them. They have a bunch of miles under a full size on tons. Now they are waiting for my new truck to get done so i can use them on that....i need 10 more so for now i have fk-jmx in the 1 1/4 flavor and misalignment spacers to get to 5/8 bolt and 2 5/8 mount width to make up for short.

another big issue that destroys joint is damaged edges or poor misalignment fitment.

No votes for RuffStuff? I love ‘em but I run 1 1/4 with 3/4 bolts for uppers and lowers. Only time I’ve had the eyes get sloppy is from crashes stretching the eyelet.

If I’m not using RuffStuff joints I’m using FK. Those also seem to last forever.
Good to know...that's what I have currently...just haven't run them long enough to know.

Avoid injection molded hiems like the Muff stuff like the plague. They are junk.

Yes. They will triple the life of a joint.

If you are running a Teflon lined joint, do not grease it. Grease attracts dirt and makes a nice grinding paste.

Pressure washers are the devil. They will blow dirt into hiem, past seals into wheel bearings, past shaft seals into shocks...... if your stuck on using one, be very mindful of where its pointed.

Yet another problem that you won't have if you buy a $100 electric pressure washer instead of whatever $2k 20kPSI abomination the dumb old men want you to buy. :flipoff2:

You mean using 3k+ psi isn't guud:flipoff2:
The deal is you can turn most power washer pressure down to a decent level, but most soccer dads don't care about fucking shit up. They realize that they'll just sell their junk as near new to another soccer dad who will do the exact same thing... then finance another pos to fuck up even more:laughing:

What about white lithium grease? It seems to protect and lubricate without attracting dirt. I have used it on uniballs and heims that see a lot of on and off-road miles in the rust belt. It seems to work as they last a long time and don’t turn into balls of rust but could it be doing damage?

What issue would develop if the ball of the heim was turned 90* and then the shank of the heim was drilled 1/8" full length?

A grease fitting could then be put in the link near the end of the threaded bung. A freeze plug or something would be needed to be put in the link to prevent the entire link from filling with grease and force the grease into the heim body. Even if both heims were done this was on link with a single grease fitting the grease will always find the easiest route out, not allowing grease evenly to both heims.
I'm thinking this cold be useful in steering linkage more than suspension links.

Rust is not an issue I have had to deal with. Yet...... my current non dirt attracting lube is maxima chain wax.

We anti seize the all the hardware but the heim itself doesn't rust typically.

Same, been using wax for years. I roll my links all 1 way, spray them then roll them the other way and spray whenever I check it over and between trips just a quick shot.

On things that matter, I like FK.
On rockcrawlers and things that never see high speed, the Ruff Stuff ones are great.

3/4 bore with 7/8" shank are often times higher rated on RSL than 7/8 x 7/8.
