Hedge funds, Red Lobster, and uncontrolled free market

We have a coonass restaurant here in TN and they get it flown in every other day

I used to buy from Gulf Pride in Franklin. They had (have?) a fleet of Rangers with reefer boxes that were driving back and forth to the gulf daily. Their store closed, but I think they're still in the restaurant supply biz somewhere around Nashville.
 
You're right, it's not the location. It's the freezing. The places I get seafood have the boats come up to the dock and off load into the kitchen. If it hits a freezer before they reheat it, I'm not eating it.

How do the boats keep the fish fresh? I thought they packed everything with ice? :flipoff2:

The place is on 321 in Wears Valley, legit gumbo which doesn’t happen often

The private equity fund that bought Red Lobster in 2014 sold off all of the property assets and leased them back to Red Lobster at above market prices. Then Covid and a bad supply deal exacerbated already high operating costs. The hedge funds will continue to do this until there is only Taco Bell left.

That's a bit too far to run for seafood. There was a coonass place in southern mid TN before covid, but I don't think it survived. Was hoping those were the folks you were talking about.

They don't sell wholesale. Just a restaurant. They did say they get bags of live crawfish in season though.
