Had this thing for pushing 15 years. Haven't touched it in at least 5. Beat up, abused, needs a bunch of work to make it usable as a yard trailer.

Do I need it? Obviously not given it's shape and how long it's been sitting.

Worth throwing $25 and a couple of hours time at?

I have left over milled cedar that isn't good enough for a "nice" project. A new coupler is $16 @ Harbor Freight. Can straighten and enforce tongue with scrap. $7.00 for paint.

Or should I scrap it?

A new one is $400, so sure, why not fix it up on the cheap.

That ended up being my thought. Worse comes to worse, I can probably get $175-200 for it on the interwebs.
Tongue straightened, reinforced and glued into place. Coupler should be here tomorrow.

Tried one of the new 5-in-1 rattle cans... solid MEH... and the paint dries slow AF.

Straightened the fenders and welded the seams for a wee bit more strength.

If paint dries overnight, cedar tomorrow.

Is that the 4 foot x 4 foot version? If you can find a use for it, might as well doctor it up.

It is.

Should have a coupler tomorrow. And cedar decking ready as well. It has a Craigslist “rebuild” paint job….
I towed a small fishing boat on the 4x8 one of those behind a samurai for years. First deck was a sheet of plywood till it weathered out and I welded it up solid like you did to give it a second life. Wore out a marriage before that little trailer :homer:

I was 1/2 tempted to go all Dirt Lifestyle on this thing and weld up every bolted intersection… but the powder coating is actually pretty solid, and I decided it wasn’t worth the effort.

So it should be ready to serve yard duty shortly

Ended up not having enough cedar milled to use in the trailer. Decided I wasn’t going to spend the time or energy to mill some boards for a yard trailer.

So two layers of plywood. Grabbed a 1/2 gallon of leftover stain. Two coats on bottom, two coats between the plywood and about 8 coats on the top. Won’t last as long as stained cedar, but f-it.

Wheel bearing packed. Still waiting on coupler.

Coupler hot glued on… easier than bolting based on how I “fixed” the tongue. That’s why the coupler got paint.

Ordered new bearing caps since one was missing. I’m officially into it for $34… $19 for the coupler, $7 for new bearing caps, about $8 in misc paint.
