Are you intentionally trying to operate 10m? I was pleasantly surprised with the 10m activity and openings over the weekend during the contest. So it's not a bad choice. Just figured 15 or 20 might be better if you're looking to get into some distance operations.

I've used one of the budipole multi band antennas for field day ops before, and it was decent. I ended up preferring a 20m dipole wire hung between a couple of trees, but then i was also limited to only 20m, which was the only thing open at the time though lol. But for the packability and ease of setup (especially if your radio has an atu) the budipole was nice. Can't really beat the price for what you get in that multi band setup.

So yeah, 10 is my game. Been getting lucky this week with the Outbacker but I think I can do better going to the flat side. Where I set up mountain topping, stringing a wire is difficult. While still being near / in the Heep for heat and power.

Gotcha. Nice. When I got my tech, 10m wasn't doing anything haha. So I had to go straight to general. 10m can be fun right now as a tech. It's the gateway drug band ;) lol

I would not expect much out of 10m, but it can do some things. I would look into FT8 if you want to play and make QSOs all the time.
I started on 10m when I was a tech and immediately was frustrated by how busy other bands were compared to 10m. Thus, I bumped up to general, and then extra haha.

It’s been on fire for a week!
Heard Spain amd Johnesburg last night while bagging Calgary, and Uruguay. Of course the NSW Australia a few days ago. All in the mobile with a vertical.

I made a bunch of contacts yesterday to Italy, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, South Brazil, Mexico, Alberta, West coast of US, as well as a CW QSO to France. Was really fun to see 10m so alive.
 
Just had a phone QSO with Switzerland (HB9DFQ) on 10m :eek:
Never ever seen 10m like this.

Our local scout office organized it from 6-10 Friday night. Today would have been better. We could only find one person to talk to last night.

I actually looked here to see when you were last active in hopes I could get you on the radio.

Out here we had the NY QSO party just saturating the waterfall. It was really frustrating
 
Weekends are crazy!
Between the qso partys, pota/sota. I’ve only been on on weekday afternoons
