apparently the diesels and the transmissions are failing too. i know of at least 4 people who have ditched GM trucks in the recent past because of their issues.

they cant even supply the dealers with replacement engines. what a fiasco

It’s almost like pushing DEI hiring, being held hostage to union labor, rewarding the C suite and board for managing for short term gain instead of long term customer loyalty and general American labor issues are having an impact on all of our auto manufacturing.

Didn't you have several that **** the bed?

more than a couple. a 1500 at 6,000 miles, several 2500 gassers, engines and transmissions. had the 1500 GMC with the baby diesel in it. it took two transmissions in under 90,000 miles. we couldnt wait around to collect on repairs and whatnot, we had to move on. work trucks cant make you money if they dont move.

all garbage.

The last reliable GM product I had was a 1988 K5 Blazer. The most advanced thing on that truck was TBI.

Geez so Chevy, Ford and Dodge are all crap, what are people buying?
I think a lot of folks are running higher weight oil than the factor fill. Calls for 5-30, they're pouring 10-30, haven't seen any hard evidence that is helping but it might. In my Raptor, I can mat the gas pedal while cranking it over and it won't start till I release the pedal so can give it a bit of prime. Might go to an Accusump at some point.

Cammi what vehicle model is mentioned the most on irate4x4.com?

I guess nothing since that's evrey auto mfr in existence
I know other poeple make stuff but not much in the deisel truck market.

I've seen alot of people recommendting running higher weights of oil, instread of chasing the ultimate MPG paper qualified 0-0 weight.

Ford 6.7 with a DCR injection pump is a trouble free truck.

Nobody bitches about Ford diesel problems unless its the injection pump.
Meh, they still have DEF problems after all these years.

Ford's main gripe is their parts are higher than a giraffe (outside of the Diesel issues) , and they're usually not available.

and i think bitching about the injection pump because its a $15,000 fix is valid, and when it fails it makes the truck useless for 3-4 months or whenever Ford has the parts available.

its like saying, "No one bitches about being shot, they just complain about the hole in their body and the loss of blood"

Don’t that have some issues with the 10 speed automatic, or did they fix that?

they do have problems with it. its pretty awful on its own, but i am not sure what its all in these days, i am not a Ford fan club guy.

Knowing its a common problem why wait until it cost $15k to fix? I paid a little over $3k for the pump and installation. Sure was way cheaper than being ignorant and pretending like it would never happen to my truck. :homer:

What DPF problems? We have several and have never ever had DPF problems with any of those trucks. Most are at or well over 200k miles. Hell, my service truck went 180k problem free before the injection pump did its thing...

I don't know. My truck is a 22 with the 10 speed and its flawless. Its almost at 100k miles now. The 6 speed in my 19 service truck was a piece of ****. It never failed but started doing weird **** slamming itself into and out of different gears after a few years of driving. That truck also rolled around at 18,600lbs daily

The 6.2 sounds like a nightmare, lots of low mile failures.
To be clear, GM has produced several 6.2 litre displacement engines over the years. This thread and the video you posted are a discussion of late model cars and trucks with the LT based engine. The one in the video was an L87. This is the platform with the problems.

The LS3 and other (older) versions of Gen 4 6.2 litre GM engines don't have the same problem. Just wanted to mention that because your post gives the impression that the 6.2 sucks across the board. Don't know if that's how you meant it or not.

yes and not fixed, dealership still waiting for fix from Ford, other then we reset the tune on it. Per converstations with local techs anyways

Are you referring to the diesel or gas 10 speeds?

I have heard about the F150/ gas 10 speed issues...

Evidently Ford is having a major issue with transmissions. A good buddy had a new F150 go through three trannies in under 40k miles. The first one barely made it to the first oil change.
