Geissele Reaction Rod

Does anyone use a Geissele Super Reaction Rod? It clamps in your vise and engages the barrel extension. It takes the upper receiver completely out of the torque path for anything you're twisting on the barrel, and takes it mostly out of barrel installation/removal too. Those little wedges preload the upper so the barrel nut friction doesn’t allow much index pin force on the receiver. It works well.

Those upper receiver fixtures that put all of the torque on the aluminum receiver and barrel index pin just seem like a bad idea to me.

Seems cool but thats a lot of money for the 10-20 barrels I will do in my lifetime versus just not being dumb with my 3d printed holder.

Ive done over a 100 barrel installs and ive only ever broken 1 receiver and i had to really get on it with a long bar.

What is your preferred method of securing the upper? I have a homemade upper vise and I have reefed on the barrel nut more than I thought I could/should. Haven't broken an upper... yet....

I use a magpul bev block. It’s a nice tool.

I have the brownells version of the reaction rod, quite a bit cheaper.
Also have the magpul block. Both work well.
