Broke a few studs in an old tank.

Analyze this repair: Drill out the stud and thru the tank, insert bolt from the inside with a bead of jb weld (on the inside on the bolt head) to seal and hold it in place. Good?

Was going to just tack a stud on the topside of tank but the sending unit flange sits flat around the stud so the weld would have to be ground back down. And I'd have to clean and purge tank for welding. So I can skip all of that.

Replace studs with rivet nuts. They won't be tall enough to prevent a fat rubber gasket from sealing and they're a hell of a lot less likely to spin than a bolt with some JB weld on it.

Self aligning weld nut. Skip the weld and put a rive or two in each wing.
