Got an 07. Did an injector.

Got it started up after done, ran rough...figured was working air out of the oil rails. Then it died.
It had a fuel knock while trying to start it again.
Now nothing, just cranks.

Both oil rails were off the truck. Put new (Amazon special) o-rings and Teflon backing rings on the standpipes amd dummy plugs.

Icp pressure build to over 1000psi. Ipr duty cycle goes up to 85% until icp builds then backs off.

Going to get the shit together to test fuel pressure and remove ipr and check the screen on it.

No codes. Could it be hpo related? Assuming not electronic because it did start.
Truck got fresh fuel filters while injector was being done. And fresh oil/filter.

I'm no specialist but I'll take a crack at it.

1000 psi cranking? That's enough to fire the injectors.

Does it have any codes?

Checking the IPR is a good idea but it's a pain to get to. You can pressure test the whole system through the ICP and then apply 12v and ground to the IPR and listen for a change in noise.

1000 psi according to torque pro.

Considering its a farm truck with 200k miles on it and I may have unwittingly knocked some dirt into the engine, I'm removing the ipr to check condition of the screen. And I'm pretty sure the duty cycle i was seeing on torque pro was commanded and not actual. Probably stalled out due to shit flowing into the screen until it killed it.

Not ruling out a fueling issue. Getting the adapters and Schrader valve to check fuel pressure while I'm in town. I've heard about cracking lines at the back of the heads to burp air from the system, ill look into that.

It probably has 10 minutes total cranking, so it should be lighting off.

As I was cranking last night, the fuel knock kept getting fainter until it went away completely. Gonna order the blue spring and seal kit for the fuel pressure regulator because fuggit.

If fuel pressure checks out and ipr looks good, i'll air check the oil rails. Dummy plugs got fresh seals, the oil nipples in the rails did not since didn't want to wait on the special tool.

Any further pointers or tips from those that love these cursed engines, please steer me in the right direction.

I'm not a fan of 6.0's but this one must have been built on a Wednesday. 205k miles of farm use on stock head bolts.

Its at a quarter tank...the thought that the sump fell off the pickup has crossed my mind, but itd run itself empty before it came in the shop.
Verified that its quarter tank by beating on the tank?

Changed the filter on the frame rail yet?

Every time I've been around a 6.0 that ran out of fuel its a whore it get restarted

Didn't verify, frame rail filter changed. It drove into the shop on 7 injectors.

Yes it is, and it beats the fuck out of the injectors.

Thats what i was gonna say; with the injectors out it can be a whore to get the fuel and oil primed so it fires.

85% duty cycle on the IPR is bonkers. Whats it drop to once it builds pressure? I sounds like you might have a leak on one of the oil rails.

I was gonna say it’s the stupid things that gets you. My brother changed injectors in a 6.0 of ours. He changed oil at the same time for some reason. He couldn’t get that sucker to start. Ended up beating he put the wrong oil filter in and ir wasn’t building enough oil pressure to fire the injectors :homer:

Sounds like an injector wasn’t torqued correctly, it came lose and the compression aerated the fuel. Common mistake, I’ve seen it happen with different guys.
Do not use any aftermarket parts on these engines, it doesn’t go well.
