Left work early, cause i was the only one there.
Finished brush hogging.
Need to run out a get a 6v battery for tractor and new battery cables.
Will get dinner out.
Some adult happens hopefully will happen tonight. Depending on the mood of the wife when she gets home.
Picked up some cigars as well for the weekend.
 
In. Still at work, but going to be doing oil change / brakes on the wife's van and installing a security camera system to at least catch the teen if she decides to run away again.

And if time permits, a carb gasket replacement on the leaky predator generator. Tonight though, whiskey and water, and hopefully a little frisky time with the wife.

Foot is feeling a ton better, still a little pain, but I've been out of the boot all week. Still have the stupid plantar facitis stuff though so I'm working through exercises for that. Way too many projects built up in the past 3 months while I've been down.

Happy Friday everyone!

I moved into management (was a Sr Field Tech for 21 years, same company) almost 3 years ago and have been trying to find my pay scale since. My old director (left the company 2 weeks back), the first time I asked her, said she knew what it was but was uncomfortable telling me. Her answer told me what I already knew (that i was underpaid for my responsibilities).

I share the same title as my counterpart in the department, we have worked together over a decade and both know what the other makes. I trained him years back when he came to the company as a field engineer, he moved into management and returned the favor training me when I moved into management. We both have a very good working relationship and he has been my mentor and biggest advocate this entire time. I don't expect to ever make the same money as my counterpart but just want what is fair. I have direct reports that make higher salary than I do (not in sales).


I now report to a new director and have also asked him to find out what my pay scale is. He has been stonewalled from HR and they will not share.
New boss called me this morning to let me know he was reaching out to #3 in the company inquiring about my pay. He just called again and told me (no promises) but said they are being very receptive and he now has a meeting on Monday morning with HR to go over my pay adjustment. Could be pennies on the dollar or more.

I live within my means and have a financial game plan for my future, I would love to make more money (like everyone else) but it has never been a driving force for me choosing to work somewhere. I love my job (loved being a field engineer but got tired of the travel), April will be 25 years that I have been with this company and don't have plans to go anywhere else.

I was very thankful that my new boss shared and is being transparent with this. I am definitely not counting my chickens before they hatch but it sure is a helluva way to go into the weekend.

in, still at work for another 40 minutes. young lady just called in and asked if we could get her driver side window to go up. I told her sure, bring it in. So waiting on that. war department requested mexi food for eats tonight, will grab on my way home. I think I'll stop by the liquor store and get me a cold snack to go with it.

young lady just showed up. 06 cobalt turd. gorgeous young lady, maybe my son would have in an cuz he can fix shit. but...........her mom's one of those "boyfriends in jail, trucks been seized as evidence, owes everyone money, face tattoos.....kind of gal" so likely the daughter has a few issues too? :lmao: window is back up and they're on their way. off to get mexi food!
 
Rather unproductive day.

Actually had to go into the big town today:laughing: I havnt actually drove through town in years. It hasnt gotten any better. Eventually found the pawn shop I was lookin for and picked up my new toy.

Learned that when the new parts guy says "yes, I have 2 on the shelf" He actually means "No I have never sold one of those before":shaking:

I'm about over it for this week. Thinkin it might be a whiskey night

Monday showers and temp was in the high 40s all day. Fired up the rebuilt furnace, worked great, heard it kick on a couple of times during the nigh. By Tuesday noon we were back up into the low 90s and the AC was back on!
Picked up the mail two dunning letters for the ambulance ride I took las year that I paid for last year. Thats three in 2 weeks, third one says, "Don't make us turn this over to our collection agency"! Called local guy he said don't worry just get me a coupy of the cashiers check showing you paid it and He'll argue with them. I wasn't really, just annoyed

Found out all the training documentation we've built over the last year for this course is outdated :mad3:

This training is about to go live in 2 weeks, and the editors apparently never noticed that shit was fucked.

Those are monday problems. Tonight is cigar + beer, and messing with my buddy's car

Produced so much swass over the last two days. Working on a few things, I found that mice had started chewing up the EMPI seat I had for a kif buggy build, so I handed that over to the boys to finish off.

A little progress on each project. Finally got a replacement evap for the freezer. Have to order an hvac mani to go any further. Soldered in the tubes and only had a scrap of aluminum for a heat shield. Managed to get it done without setting the plastic on fire.

Wife is about here. Showering, then picking up a bathroom sink and going to Mexican for early farger's day dinner. Maybe pool time afterwards.

Shit week for work, been drinking bourbon since 1pm.

Didn't get to the point of having to slap the stupid out of anyone, but came pretty damn close. Not sure if I should be proud or disappointed. :homer:

Got the lawn cut and that pretty much used up my ambition for the day. Gonna go wander out to the shop and see what kinda of chaos I can cause there.

Fucking wild fuckers :laughing: Made me use a damn horse today. Got them to the house so we can bottle feed the lil one cause momma ain't doin it for him.

Then went and got the excavator and dug 200ft of leach line at the church.

Then went to town for some stuff, ran into my buddy and chatted.

Now, home having a :beer: looking at cows and grass. Pretty hot though so I might go in the house for a bit.






Oh, and I'm getting the boat prepped for tomorrow on the lake.

Got cooked trying to get stuff done today incase we get the rain they’re projecting next week. Loaded up the tractor and planter so I can head south early tomorrow. Drinking a beer and sitting outside watching my kids play right now.
 
Just wasted a tank of gas driving to look at an axle that wasn't what the seller thought it was. Oh well, have another lead. It will all work out.

Weird week at work. I'm starting to think I might need to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I either need to move up or down. Not sure what the right direction.

Oh well, probably should go have a beer.
 
Took the day off work for no reason at all

Got the sink drain plumbed in for the new kitchen. It’s beautiful outside so kicking back on the tailgate with a not beer just enjoying the place for once

In. Made Italian sausage stuffed acorn squash for the wife and me. Was going to work on the deck off the kitchen door, but got a call
from the grandson that while at work he became short of breath and had chest pain. That was at 8:30am, so I drove up there and
took him to emergency. Spent a wonderful 3 hours there while they checked him out. Turned out to be a combo of acid reflux and
an upper respiratory infection. He's home and feeling a bit better.
