Every heard of this? WOT oil prime?

fuel pump
Mercury marine gave me a bung between the oil pump and the filter and one at the end of the galley.

The obvious place to mount the coil is up front near the distributor and oil pump.

So naturally that engine won't be getting spark if there's not a couple PSI at the output of the oil pump.

I'm not sure...

The owners manual for my 2001 Super duty has this as a cold weather procedure:
If the engine does not start in two attempts, press
the accelerator pedal all the way to floor and hold. Turn the key to
START position.
4. When the engine starts, release the key, then release the accelerator
pedal gradually as the engine speeds up.

So, not the engine prime thing if wot fires the engine? Or is it, and that's clearing the flooded cylinders from failed starts?

Has anybody ever heard of this? Basically, you hold the vehicle at WOT while starting it. It is supposed to turn off the injectors to prime the oil pump after letting your vehicle sit.

It's still spinning the engine over, what's the point?
Apparently I was wrong. I knew it wouldn't start without oil pressure either way :homer:
Source? I've never seen one that way. The PCM toggles the fuel pump relay on whenever it sees a pulse from the ignition trigger on the ones Ive worked on. On some they also put a reduntant circuit in to turn on the fuel pump that bypasses the fuel pump relay when the OSU sees pressure, but not all and certainly not required to have oil pressure to run.
6.5s lift pumps were oil pressure only and a bad opsu leaves you on the side of the road. Btdt.

I'm reading that as the engine will eventually fire, even with the throttle held at 100%. It says "WHEN the engine starts, release the key, then release the accelerator pedal gradually as the engine speeds up."

pretty clearly describes a flooded engine stumbling to life
