Spc. Chris Eckardt was one of the soldiers who came from Wisconsin to backfill our unit when we deployed in 2003.
I didn't know him much more than our year together but he was a damn good man on his way to starting his life with his family. Godspeed and RIP Sgt. Chris Eckardt

I had to work today.
Some of the veterans in the HOA put together a VFW post a couple years ago, I’ve been on the fence about joining.
Today they did a ceremony for memorial day for the community. I couldn’t attend because of work. I was getting a little annoyed with people wishing me a “happy memorial day”. At some point I heard the first notes of Taps in the distance. I stopped what I was doing because I couldn’t talk, “my allergies” were hitting me hard.
To those who gave all, thank you, you will not be forgotten 🥃
