Flat rate?Where is Jimmy Numbers? he could have that done in a jiffy.
A guy I’ve talked too in the Land Rover group on FB needs a bolt extracted
don’t need how to do it, he needs someone that can help him
needs someone to come do it for him.
He updated to saying it’s in Colorado SpringsI'd be happy to help, as long as he's in south central Alaska.
Or is "LR FB Group" the best we're gonna get?
Why? They are easy money. If you do it correctly.A Land Rover timing job is not an amateur diy driveway project. He is going to be sorry. Im 25 years into my career as a mechanic, and I wont touch those fucking piles. +1 for fire.
I put springs in the title the whole time 😂He updated to saying it’s in Colorado Springs
Edit a shop and a seller screwed him over

Damnit! I reread the entire thread 2x looking for that!I put springs in the title the whole time 😂
He bought it under the impression that a specialist shop did the timing chains and stuff correctly. Got it from halfway across the US and 3000 miles later it started rattling and he found this.
I tried to help fix one that got put on marketplace for “electric issues”. Was a beautiful machine for cheap. Tinkered with it on and off for a year and it got given up on. Fuck those things. He bought it under the impression that a specialist shop did the timing chains and stuff correctly. I personally don’t trust anyone so I just buy them already blown up.
Not cool man. You know what that tag's for.Put up the HELP tag up! We need to heckle the new guy-
He tricked me 😂Removed the help tag. As stated, it's for "oh shit, I am on the side of the road and fucked".
Not cool man. You know what that tag's for.
I* have to convince him to do it.Now that the help tag is down.
It’s a Euro trash Rover. That metric bolt made of a garbage alloy is butter soft. Probably got over torqued by whoever was the lowest bidder (lowest common denominator as well) no torque wrench. Reused the torque to yield bull shit fastener. Broke at the first thread past the solid shank.
I bet it drills out so easy you wouldn’t believe it. Probably twist right out with a left hand bit. If not, a spriral extractor will spin it right out. Second Biggest issue is drill cuttings getting into the oil pan. First biggest issue is 1/3 of that boss on the block is now gone. With a new proper bolt it “might” hold. If not, you’re back to square one.

Yes it failed when he was driving. It was improperly installed. The guide has two floating bolts on each end and that middle one is a tighter fit that it “rotates” on. So it was either overtorqued (I’m guessing this because I’ve seen other ones broken off) or not torqued. That looks like the bolt and boss broke off DURING OPERATION, not during disassembly. If the pic your posted left is up, then that thing snapped off while driving down the road. This is way over "hey come help me in my driveway" kindof thing. He needs a tow to a reputable shop and whip out the check book.
Or, since hes in CS, someone needs to drag that thing up into the mountains and push it off a cliff, then he reports it stolen. While leaving his phone on his living room couch sofa. In minecraft.
Put a oversized aluminum bolt in the hole then drill and tap that to the correct size bolt.Local fastener supply sells aluminum bolts - torque to spec, weld it in, sell it
