Neat. Just a coincidence that you parroting the same lines that all off a sudden decided african man bad as soon as they realized he didn't give a fuck what they thought.
You do know he's the chief technical officer of SpaceX, don't you? Is that just a fancy title he gave himself?
Curious. Have you ever watched any of the interviews and tours of starbase people have done with him? Does he come off as someone that just bought a cool spaceship company and is along for the ride? Do you think SpaceX would be where it is right now without his leadership?
I'm firmly in the middle on Musk. Have been since he started his rise. When I retired from my last company, several of my friends went to Tesla and some ended up with SpaceX. There is no question that he is bright. I would say that his title is just a title though and the that ALL of his endeavors were pretty far along when he arrived: Paypal, Tesla, SpaceX. What he brought was similar to what Steve Jobs brought which is how to get it done and the ability to motivate people to do things they did not know to do.
He is technical enough to understand the problem, an amazing motivator in being able to gauge what his people are capable of and demand it of them and his personality is such that he can attract the right people to things.
He has a rocketship that can land on a small pad and do it often, that is really really really something. He knew that would be a game changer, he did not figure it out, but he was able to get the right people together and get them to see it so that they could make it happen. He deserves great credit for that. There are other things where he has either been wrong or his contrarian spirit just couldn't allow him to go with it.
Lots of tech people get confused and assume that if they are good at one thing, they will, necessarily, be good at almost anything. It is the cognitive bias fallacy. It is tricky because people like Musk ARE brilliant and are capable of grasping many things and being expert in many things, but not all things and not all the time.
Balance in looking at people like Elon Musk has value to me so that you don't get sucked into his dalliances and see them as commitments. I wasn't going to bring up that he has already walked back his support for Donald Trump because I know it will make some people feel confusion.
He is only on the side that is him. He is not on the left or the right nor libertarian. He is using an excuse to try to deflect culpability as it relates to his mistakes and missteps in child rearing and he has an audience that will support him because it helps them be 'right'.
