I need to drive my car to work 20min to use the welder for seat bracket. I cut up the old seat and new one needs fab work. I dont think I have 220 at home, or I would bring it here.

Is this a stupid idea, to sit on some pillows? Better to put the seat in and sit in that, even if unbolted? Bring welder home and mickey mouse it with 110?

I know a man that drove a car for years just sitting on a couple bags of grain. Same guy had no steering wheel for a while and steered with a pair of vise grips. A millionaire that you would think is homeless. And in fact lived in his car and under a bridge for a few years even when he had a house. Now he lives in a trailer house with no front or back door. He says he sleeps on the back deck unless its raining or snowing.

Are we talking 20 minutes in CA interstate traffic, or 20 minutes on side streets with no traffic?

In my younger (dumber) days, I have used both a bucket and a milk crate. Both were low speed (30 mph) drives with little to no traffic.

I used a milk crate once in a 51 Willys pickup. I don’t recommend it. Drill and bolt some angle iron.

Just STFU and drive the fuckin car down there bitch. make it happen.

Just dont let any of your cop friends catch you. Might find out how cool they really are:stirthepot:

Can definitely weld. Didnt grow up on a farm so no experience with this type.of thing, didnt want to end up on the freeway deathtrap :flipoff2:

saw a connector behind the dryer, 3 prong. Ordered an adapter. Worth a try

5 gallon bucket and get it done.

What the worst that could happen?
The bucket could split and shove a shard of plastic right up his rectum?

I know a guy who stood on a bucket to open the door of a car up on the lift. He woke up in a puddle of blood. The bucket split and a shard of it sliced up his calf and he hit his head on the concrete when he fell knocking him out.

Any time he sees someone sitting or standing on a bucket he shows off the gnarly scar and tells the story.

A family friend farmer had an old dump truck he used to haul silage that I never knew to have a seat, just had a shoddily secured five gallon bucket to sit on.

Put the seat in, finger tight the easy to reach bolts, and drive it.
