What's new

Driving from SF bay area to Carlsbad CA. Where to stop?

Dont/didnt you also have to report to CCC?

we are trying to put a pedestrian bridge across a small creek and I cant believe how much bureaucratic BS and redundancy there is. Not to mention the ancestral lands BS we are now dealing with.:shaking:

The Coastal Commission ? They have stopped any actual work on several critcal bridge replacements. I was always of the opinion that we should not fight it anymore and let the damn things fall into the rivers. . . . . Pay the fine for polluting the creek but shut the fucking highway off. In fact, one of those bridges is on Rte 1 Humbolt County.

edit: my only involvement was with the Drilling department in support of Engineering Services. I foundn this is one click at Gew Gull Look at this shit

There's your CA voting base right there. Professional government consultants. Pay us and we will figure how to tell you you can not build it until you pay us enough we are willing to put our licenses on the line.

I sense engineer envy and anger :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Sooooooooooooo glad I am retired. Ya know how many Humbolt State and UC Santa Cruz Biologists got into CalTrans's environmental Division ??

That Bridge, the Rte 1/101 over the Smith River will collapse soon. Good fucking riddance. It might help southern Oregon though :lmao:

Now that I've totally hijacked my own thread...

My line is I cant do the math, but I sure as hell can tell you what can or cannot work from my experience. Hint, I'm usually right:flipoff2:

Dealing with these fawkwits, we are doomed

I used to cross that 6 to 8 times a year. Now I'll go up south river road and cross on 197 or whatever it is. I might be up there in a couple weeks if steelhead actually start to move into the rivers.

Hit up my oldest boy if you go thru SLO. He is studying welding down there and working at Poly Performance. Stopping there and checking it out is worth a stop. Awesome gun range by his school...

Ask him if he knows Liam Kennedy. That's my neighbors son.

As for Mr Santa, my vote is stop in SLO and floor it through LA. How long in Carlsbad?

Considerably out of the way, but going over the east side of the sierras and down 395 is a nice scenic drive. Probably not the best idea in winter, but spring/early summer is nice.

What time are you planning on going through LA? Traffic is slightly better with COVID, but not much. At night it’s wide open, though. Way less traffic than normal. Pretty much any time between 8pm-5am you’ll fly right through.

You come to my house. I Iearned to cook from my dad who put his way through school cooking in several high end places in the city and my mom who was born in Italy and well, is your typical Italian grandma who cooks all day for one meal:grinpimp:

Deal, what time is dinner?
