Drill Press or cheaper mill for $2k budget?

I have a Bport and 2 drill presses(?). Old school 15" Powermatic and a 20" Wilton, both with Reeves Drives. The Wilton is a 80-1200 rpm workhorse and gets used almost every day, mostly with with annular cutters. The Powermatic has a 1hp DC motor and kicks ass for drilling and tapping! It's so frustrating watching guys unnecessarily crank handles back and forth on a mill searching for perfection when they only need to drill a fucking clearance hole:mad3: I have a 6" milling vise on a sliding plate with T-handles to lock it down so, it's a fast set up. This is a funky, angled arrangement because the Bport was tied up but, this vice set-up rocks!

nice
looks almost as quick as the circle swivel table

What the hell is a circle swivel table?
some old drill presses used to have a table that'd swivel both at the table and the column
you bolt the vise to the table offset and you can swing and rotate the part to the center of the spindle real quick and easy, lock the two swivels and it's in place

my dad is a retard and always bolts the vise centered on the table, so it is entirely unusable

Sometimes when I wanna be extra safe I'll mount a drill press vise with one bolt or just put a bolt through the slot in the table and let the part I'm drilling or the drill press vise rest against it.

Most of the time I just grab the handle or part and hang on though.

What are you currently drilling holes with now? $100 marketplace used drill press might be all you need. I'd start there and you might save yourself some money

but its still a mill if you try hard enough

That's what routers are for :homer:

Usually there is a hole someone drilled through the table that lines up with the vise if you move it around.

Drill presses also make for good end tables. At least thats how my sitting area in my shop is laid out. This one is currently a catch all for shit that still needs to be hung on the wall.
