I suck at buying socks. My wife sucks at buying me socks.

Recommend me some good socks. I wear a size 14. Mostly wear running type shoes, Merrell hiking boots, or even Sorrels at my cabin. Sometimes I'll rock the sandals. I may, on occasion, toss one off in em, so they need to be soft. :flipoff2:

Seems everything I buy is either too small or too big. Or they fall apart too soon. Or they stretch out.

Whats good?

Red wings has a merino wool sock that they have a lifetime warranty on. They’re def expensive. I have a bad habit of wearing just them out side, around the house and not cutting my toenails. I get a couple years out of a pair. They say they’ll warranty them no matter what. I’ve warrantied one pair cause I finally wore through the toes and the other my cat decided to shed the shit out of them.

I liked the darn tough stuff, but they went woke.

Need to find the next best thing as mine are getting wore out

Or they fall apart too soon.
Everything is a piece of China shit these days.
I buy new socks and in a short time they get holes and get tossed.

I cleaned out garage, found an old bag with socks from good ol days. The toe and heel grey areas are actually thicker, not just color. Tough as hell and been wearing them for longer than new socks and they have zero damage and no signs of holes any time soon. These old socks will outlast any new ones by 10 to 1.

Fuck new shit, it all sucks and it's all fucked. Take me to a garage sale.

I buy my non backpack hunting or dress socks at wal-mart. Wife used to buy me stuff like a 3 pack from Costco, one black, one blue, one gray. I just throw all my socks in a drawer and it was a pain in the ass,

This year I had enough and everything went in the garbage. I have short white socks and tall black sock now, that’s it, and it’s glorious.

Wool socks from Grip6 though I'd imagine any wool sock would be just as good. They are the best socks I've ever bought, keep my feet dry and last a really long time.

I just get a thermal or similar thick sock at Costco. Once they are done for, rinse and repeat.

They get changed out daily, and I am sure getting dry on high temps shortens their usability span (being on the road 3 plus weeks at the time I do not have time to fuss about proper wash/dry care - it all gets tossed into truck stop laundry machines).

I buy all new merino wool work socks every couple of years and throw the old ones away. My previous Keen socks went almost 10 years before the heels got too thin. I went cheaper this time and am trying these out:

Edit: 14s...probably need go down to the boat yard and get those things shrink wrapped.

Fox river has been my favorite.

If budget is more of a concern, the synthetic wool cabelas house brand socks are good for the money.

Underarmor crew. Cotten free. If you do any kind of manual labor, constantly on your feet, then stay away from cotton, unless you like swampy feet. I have summer boots and insulated winter boots, so I wear the same socks year round. I have some fox rivers for the weird in between days in spring and fall thats too warm for insulated boots, but cold enough to make the toesies nippy if I dunk my foot in some water or end up stationary for a while.
Not a fan of wool unless I'm stationary in the cab of a tractor, but mostly rocking out in a tool truck standing in mud and rain. Like today.

Incredisocks are all that I buy now. They regular crew socks last years. I also wear the thinner ones in the summer, when I am in/ out of the water all day.

I really like the Icebreaker socks. I have mostly Hike+ Light and some heavier that I use during winter
They are not cheap. I run them through the washer and dryer, but I think they feel better when air-dryed. They have held up very well. I have some that are several years old.

I just wear Dickies work socks. I consider them to be disposable more or less. When they start wearing out I throw them out and buy new ones.

I do the Kirkland wool in both thick and thin. I used to do their cotton as well but after wearing wool, cotton feels like swamp foot in the boots pretty quickly.

I was a "Gold Toe" sock guy since the 1980's, but quite a while back I changed to Under Armour and they are far superior socks.

My main complaint is they make subtle changes to the socks every few years so the sock you buy today doesn't perfectly match the sock you got last year.
