Dead Pool 2024

10-4 Rest In Peace Rubber Duck

I regret not seeing him a few years ago in concert in Wichita.

Only highwayman left is Willie and he’s over 90.

He was definitely a man of many talents.
Probably my favorite song writer of all time. He was extremely smart and talented. Bummer.

In high school, my buddy said, 'hey, lets go to the palomino club tonight, Red Adair's helicopter pilot is playing'

I had no idea who he was, but if he was Red Adair's helicopter pilot, I'm in. He couldn't sing very well, but his songs were great and he had a great band and the audience was full of big time people. Sunday Morning Coming Down is one of the greatest songs ever. He could act, he was a good athlete, he was a rhodes scholar... and he was Red Adair's copter pilot... and he was a total 'face man' handsome and cool too.

Hope it was a good ride Kris! Rest Easy!

Kris Kristofferson at 88. Wrote a lot of good music.
I remember the first time I heard "Sunday Morning Coming Down".

It reminded me greatly of my mom. So I looked up the story to the song. He wrote it for Johnny Cash and Cash performed it on live TV and left in Kris' original lyrics which got him in deep shit.

If he worked for Red he was a wildman, Red was a thrill seeker oil well firefighter that went all-over the world putting out oil well fires.

I read a book about Red Adair in junior high and he and chuck yeager (and to a degree Ted Turner when Turner won the America's Cup) were pretty much the most kick ass people we looked up to (Audie Murphy too)

Anyway, one of the guys in my friend group told us that his uncle worked for Red Adair and that Kris Kristofferson had been a pilot for the company that was hired to fly Red around and that Kris had been a favored pilot because he was 'unflinching'

Once we learned about Kristofferson's background, he was in the group of 'tough dudes' we admired... and we frequently goaded each other in to not being pussies by saying 'be unflinching'

Kristofferson was a total badass. I just hope he found some peace.

I was in jr High school when my dad introduced me to Red, never met Kris way back then but did later when I worked in hollyweird.

Did sound for KK at a bar in Roseville, and I was not mixing just systems tech as he had his own FOH engineer, and someone else was mixing monitors. Well it was just KK and a second guitarist, I don't recall who, but KK didn't like the mix and finally stopped playing to take a break so the sound could be fixed. I had to step in, and with the help of his FOH engineer we changed a few things and he finished the show. His FOH guy said he's known as "Pissed Pissedofferson". Dude was a song writing genius for sure.

My dad always had the same regret not stopping to see Bob Wills at some roadside bar in the 50s

Now they’ll vote him into Cooperstown. Death makes people sentimental.
I worked with a New Yorker who in his 60's still gets worked up about 'his' Mets, and has been crying about how Rose has been wronged out of the Hall. Fuck him, he knew the rules against gambling on baseball and did it anyway. FAFO, and all that.

Absolutely. Fuck Pete Rose.
