What's new

COVID 19 scams.

You are a huge piece of shit and a even bigger cheap ass. It's not the employee's fault.

LOL, great movie, but meh, I still don't like a cheap ass. They can keep my dollar. It does depend on whether or not they are receiving a minimum wage and the effort performed. That said- these "covid times" are different.

Wtf does being a conservative have to do with it? You are either a pathetic statist or a pathetic troll.

Because the OP is the Conservative, he named himself that. Conservatives are supposed to be morally responsible and stand up for their actions. Sorry I have to explain that to you. Why so much anger brah ? Yeah, troll, that's it. Name slinger. Ouch !! So much pain. PBB member since 2001. Troll ?? Fag !! So cup my fucking balls bitch :lmao:

edit: the subject of the post is about a speeding ticket. As an introduction to how he got scammed by Wuhan. As Stubbs said, take responsibility for your actions. Completely avoidable paying the Wuhan fee. Self inflicted. Completely responsible for his debacle. That is a conservative value. statist ?? WTF are you on ?? Troll ??? Pull out of whatever dark shithole you are in and wipe the fuck off.

You seriously tip on takeout? I don't tip unless there's someone filling my drinks and taking my order at the table.

Bought a couple footlongs at Subway and noticed when I got home they had a Covid fee on the receipt.

Yuck. This is reminiscent of the fuel surcharge fedex, ups, etc tacked on when fuel prices surged, that never went away. Screw that noise.

Right now? Yes, absolutely. I'm not going to the big chains, but I do go to local places and either sit down or get to go orders. I've known a lot of these servers/owners for years and they need help right now. They aren't getting rich off me, but it's appreciated like the last time I went to our local wing place I got a free order of raw fries.

Drove through Illinois last May. Signs before and at toll booth said that booths were closed due to Covid, and just keep driving. Three months later I get a letter from Illinois toll administration with a bill for $10. It was for $1.50 toll, a $3.00 administration fee, and a $5.50 late fee. What a crock of shit. Can you imagine how much money they are making with all of the toll booths they have around Chicago?

 I drove around CHI in June, and went through the first toll lane to pay and saw that it was unmanned. Went on my way passing 2 more before we got out of the city. Got a bill in the mail in Aug. or Sept. for 3 tolls that added up to about $8.50. There may have been a $1-$2 admin fee for the mailed statement, but I know there was no late fee.

Lol, no shit it is appreciated. People love getting money for little to no work on their part.

Don't get me wrong, I worked in the restaurant business for 5 years through high school and college, and you should absolutely tip for dine-in assuming you didn't have outrageously bad service, but I have never understood why some people feel they need to tip for take out. The kitchen staff doesn't get your tip, and all the server did was punch in an order and carry it to you from the kitchen  Do you tip fast food cashiers too?

Do you tip fast food cashiers too?

You've worked the industry so you should know any little bit helps.

And no, I dont tip fast food employees because they are at least making a minimum wage if not more (~$8.20/hr??) The fast food restaurants around here are slammed with car lines to the roads so there is no shortage of hours to work. Most (not all) mom and pop places I'm talking about can't say the same and/or afford to pay a full staff untill they can open back up 100%.

Around here at least, tips are usually pooled and divided evenly amongst staff in a restaurant.

Plea deal, for speeding? What in the actual fuck :lmao: What are you going to do, expose other speeders in exchange for a lighter "sentence"?

they just want the money.
talk to the DA, agree to a non moving violation, pay a higher fee.
no points.
no insurance penalty.

it's cheaper to pay the extortion up front. usually only another 50 bucks over the speeding ticket.

and this is why traffic citations are merely revenue generation.

edit:
my last was a ticket from an aircraft for 91 in a 70.

I was not driving aggressively and I was on a 6 lane interstate with no traffic.
in a car built to to triple digits all day safely.

I wouldnt call it a plea deal, but you can take stupid driving courses that cost about $250 and ruins your Saturday. It usually drops the points and no insurance issues.

fuck that.

just ask them for a non moving equipment violation. Agree to pay more money to the county.
they'll just take your money and you're done in 15 minutes at the courthouse.

Meh, servers as a whole are the whiniest and most entitled people I have ever worked with. Yes there are exceptions who bust their ass, and they are the ones who are killing it with tips and bringing in 2-3x as much money as their co-workers.

Yes, it's true, server wages are much lower than minimum wage, but I can probably count on one hand the number of non-zero paychecks I got as a server becuse they usually didn't cover the taxes on my tips  The thing people don't realize is, servers can't make less than standard minimum wage. If they make less than minimum wage with their tips and server wages over a pay period, the business has to make up the difference. It also means that they are either going to get fired or that the restaurant is on its way out of business. I hate dealing with people, but there is a reason I worked in a restaurant for 5 years. It was the easiest way to make that kind of money, and the hours are great for someone going to school full time.

I understand these are exceptional times, and restaurants are particularly hard-hit, so if tipping on takeout makes you feel like you are helping people in need, by all means, do it. I only chimed in since it seemed like the implication was that you were supposed to tip on takeout and if you don't, you are a horrible person.

Around here at least, tips are usually pooled and divided evenly amongst staff in a restaurant.

Fuck those pinko places! I am sure the wait staff has lots of incentive to be attentive and provide exceptional service  I would never have worked at a place like that while I was serving tables. As I alluded to above, we had a few servers who went above and beyond and would take home twice as much money in a 5 hour dinner shift as people who had been working all day on a regular basis. You aren't going to keep servers like that at a tip share place.

Received this today -

As part of our Shelter-in-Place Payback program during COVID-19, we've issued you a refund.

If you had a past due balance on your account, we've applied the refund as a credit towards that balance. Any amount not applied towards a past due balance will go to the payment method we have on file. If we don't have this info, we've sent you a check in the mail.

The amount of this payback is roughly 7% of your auto insurance premium from each month you were insured between June, July, and August. No action is required on your part.

Thanks for being a valued Esurance customer.

Balh Blah Blah

If the server is that same waiter/waitress that kicks ass when there is inside seating, is the one working the window, I sure do tip. Last thing needed is for that person to have to seek other employment and then when this is over all that is left are the shitty waiter/waitress that fucks up the order every time.

Or, here's an idea... OP did the infraction, so he should pay the bill.

I must confess a bit of hypocrisy here tho. I once got a seat belt ticket, contested it, and stood in court and lied my ass off to get out of it. Of course, seat belt laws are far less valid than speed laws, so I'd totally do it again :flipoff2:

I bought a new car in February and promptly got two speeding tickets. They were legit, and I paid them. If those fuckers knew half the shit I did in that car the first few months I'd be posting this shit from under the jail

I tip at some places, depending. There's a little teriyaki joint near my house that I really like, but I suspect they're not doing real well financially. I always tip there. The other night, some guy was ahead of me at the counter, and apparently his order got "lost" or something and he was now going to have to wait another ten minutes. It's happened to me, too. Life sucks, get a helmet I guess. He huffed out mumbling "this is bullshit" like a passive aggressive nine year old. When I paid for my order, I tipped extra, because fuck that **** :flipoff2:

You are a huge piece of shit and a even bigger cheap ass. It's not the employee's fault.

What am I tipping for again? Oh, that's right. To have the waiter refill my water, bring me my food, fetch some ketchup, etc. Guess how many of those things were done for me? ZERO.
So, again, what am I tipping for?

For those of you that do tip take out, to make sure we're on topic here: Those places you love so much are charging you an extra Covid fee, right?
Some of my local places, mom and pop types, do not charge the bullshit fee. They deserve a tip. The big chains and greedy bastards that charge the fee get no tip for take out. If a local place wants to charge a fee, then fuck them too.

If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them, if I find them obnoxious, I break them.

but this all goes right back to who is the victim if I'm speeding on the interstate and injure no one? Have i injured the state?
no victim, no crime.

If you have super good aim with a rifle, you can shoot bullets 2 inches next to the heads of innocent people, as long as you don't hit them.
No victim, no crime?

Yeah, that simple rule runs into problems as you can see.

Maybe try a little common sense..? I can shoot a gun in certain places, and not in others. Likewise, I can drive 120 MPH in certain places, and not in others. On the interstate with no cars within a 1/4 mile is a pretty reasonable place to drive 120 MPH. While passing a line of cars driving 60, maybe not so much.

I honestly cannot remember the last time we did takeout.

I have in the past 15 years probably given about 1400.00 to ticket lawyers 1 lawyer cost me 600. another cost me 500 and the other ones were 100 each. Reason for the high price on the first two is because I live in a different part of the state so they slapped me with a so called out of town fee. Every time it has usually been for about 14 over the limit. Im going to go back to sunday driver mode just to prevent jinxing myself. I would like to thank the fine folks of WAZ app for the past 4 years of driving.

Kid at work got a ticket right at the beginning of the shutdown here, playing on his phone at a light or some such BS. Sends the ticket to his lawyer to deal with, doesn't get handled because the courthouse in that town is apparently completely shut down due to the 'rona, like nobody is even answering the phone and no way to pay a ticket online, but he paid his lawyer so he assumed it was handled. Then he gets a letter about failing to appear/pay his fine to the seemingly 100% unmanned court, so he got fucked by both the city AND his lawyer on the guise of "safety"
