The one on the right is my friends 78. His grandpa bought it new and it was a farm truck ever since. The one on the left is restored and they happened to be the same year and color.

Rangers and Lariats had square in 78 everything else had round. They all had square in 79 but the grill is different. The one on the left had its lights swapped to square.
I've been confused about this for a while, because I've seen them listed both ways. My friend had a 78 with squares, but after thinking about it a little longer, his is a 79
.
