Cobra in the trail truck is about 12 years old. Works fine, I guess. But the plastic sheeting on the cable is shedding worse that the Malligator... Every day, more plastic bits on the floormats...
Apparently, these are not in stock anywhere. I like the form factor and don't really have room to mount anything larger... So switch to hand-held?

Read the Trail Radios thread (Trail radios) and looking at options presented there.

Upgrade to a MTX275 GMRS radio, basically the same as that everything in the mic cb you have.

Uniden has the equivelent CMX760 which you can find at Amazon at least.

As far as the GMRS radio, the only problem with that is you need to purchase a license from the FCC.

Yea
You neophyte :flipoff2:
That wire to the antenna thingy:smokin:
If cb works 4 yer crew it's a cheap repair to put an antenna on it.
Probably fix the modulation issue tooooo

can you put some wiring shrink wrap over the cable?

actually thought about it... but the cable is coiled... not going to be easy to wrap. Even though about plastidip...

It's $35 for a 10 year license and it covers everyone in you immediate family.
CB is free and still handy. And if I was going to spend $35 on a license, I would just spend it for a ham radio license as it's much more versatile. The good thing is everyone will choose what they want to use in the end.

Have you tried calling Cobra to see if you can just get a replacement cable? Just a thought.

You talking mic cable here?
+1 call cobra or hro or check the pin count and hit amazon

Talked to Cobra. Model no longer made; parts not available. Two options he suggested - custom cable or attempting to plastic dip.

I’ve wrapped the damaged coil with a coil on each side of it as a group with self fusing silicone tape stretched to half its width then scotch 88 over that. Worked good.
