Car soap thread

Yup, I have a 1.5 cubic yard DI tank that costs me about $50 every 6 Months to have re charged, I call it Crack water cause once you use it you can't live without it.

I have two nice cars that live in the garage and I take care of, Drying paint causes a ton of micro scratches, and takes time to dry.

So yes I'm a car wash snob, and stand by my DI tank :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:
Ive got one too. Nothing better for washing cars and windows
.

What cars deserve this attention?

And please post when you sell.

I can appreciate your attention to detail and dedication.
I'm a keeper of cars, and I have a line of work guys that follow me like groupies, don't ask about my maintenance schedule. :homer::lmao:

I try to wash the salt off at least a few times a winter. Only the car fits in the lazy wash, the trucks I have to DIY like a poor.

I use a foam cannon on a pressure washer

IMO all soap comes out of the same factory just different color / smell / label. I used different foam cannon soaps they all foam up like the label says.

My vehicle has not been washed in 6 months ran it thru some flood water last 2 days still dirty, will break out the foam cannon today and give it a proper wash with a brush / pad.

The Mr pink stuff works well. Practically any Biodegradable enviro safe soap will work well. Just red the SDS if it matters that much to you.

To me the foam cannon saves time. I can get the whole SUV covered in like 30 seconds. I thought they were to spread the soap fast and even. I use my foam cannon for the Toyota and often RTU Condenser and Evap coils. Now that's were they save time.

Anyways, OP. do yourself a favor. Clay the car twice with a decent clay bar kit. Was it with Dawn Dish Soap once and Only once (Dan strips off polish and wax along with dirt)

Then hit it with some wax of your choice. After that Car soap or Hair Shampoo will keep it clean. The Meguiars Wash and wax stuff is what i like. Smells nice.

Use water pressure to get the stains and dirt off best you can. A simple Garden Hose drinking water filter on your spigot will prevent the bad minerals and most of the chlorine from touching your car. It will stop the water spots and lessen the stiction on any water spots that you can't get to right away. I usually get them from Wall Mart in the RV section.

So whats the consensus on the ceramic coatings? Those things really cost 2k? Thinking about it for a new F150, but 2K buys alot of car washes.

DIY should not be that much.

I'm gonna try it on my RV will probably take me a year to clean / buff and coat it.

Spray this on first for the bugs. Works really good. Read the directions first though. Not supposed to leave it on long.

I use meguairs wash and wax in the foam cannon with pressure washer.

Then hand wash with mitt, then rinse with regular water then DI water.

When I wax I use the P21S. I only do this on the mustang and the hellcat though. Truck and Jeep almost never get washed.

This is the hellcat drivers door.

The beauty is no drying, park in the sun and it drys spot free.

I have a master blaster for air drying my nicer rides, but now you're making me question that.

I have done them myself at home. The first time is intimidating. It really is nice. What really makes it slick and stay cleaner is the hydrophobic top coat. I did try just putting the top coat on my daily and it didn't last nearly as long as my car with the ceramic + topcoat. It could be for other reasons, but that was my experience. Once you have done a ceramic coating yourself once, it's not too bad. Most of what you are paying for with a ceramic is the paint correction. My biggest beef with paint correction is most places wetsand/polish so much to get every little thing out that they remove half of your clear coat thickness. I keep my cars long enough that I don't want it removed. I clean the paint up, but within reasonable tolerances before coating.

get you a hot water pressure washer... or even most washers can take household temp hot water. that'll be the best thing you ever did for washing your own car.

I have no clue what it is but stuff i've been using with a foam canon and a hotsy work awesome. all I got.

and aluma bright is the best cleaner you'll ever get... but it'll also fuck your shit up. be careful
